Dems blame weather on climate change By Zack Colman - 08/01/12 01:07 PM ET

Droughts, heat waves and other severe weather are being exacerbated by climate change, several Senate Democrats contended at a hearing Wednesday.

Democrats on the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works held the hearing to call attention to what they said are the risks of climate change highlighted by severe weather this summer. They also sought to blame Republicans for holding up action to prevent or slow global warming.

“I think we have to recognize that extreme weather conditions have a severe burden and cost on our society,” Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) said. “People living on the coast are seeing the sea level rise and thinking about how we protect our critical assets.”

Democrats and the majority witnesses said human activity has accelerated climate change that has exacerbated a drought hurting farmers across the country and raised sea levels.

Conservatives said the extreme weather in recent years provides too small a sample size to definitively say climate change exists. Some of the projections predicted by computer modeling also have not come to fruition, they said.

“Empirical data ... show that the temperature is basically the same” for the past 10 years, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) said during the hearing.

Republicans have said the Obama administration is unfairly targeting fossil fuel companies with harsh air pollution regulations. They, as well as the power industry, say those rules will stunt economic recovery.

Ok Senator. How do you propose we fix this? And what do we do after the scientists come up with a solution and they are wrong and we suffer global cooling from their fix?

Don’t come to me with problems. Come to me with solutions.

The same goes for sea levels, or so I have read. Never mind, though. We don’t need no stinkin’ empirical data.

Who would have thought that it gets hot in the summer?

Newsflash for the legislature: “You cannot legislate the weather! No matter how hard you try!”.

Global warming is megalomaniacs hellbent on their quest for power, using nothing more than scare tactics and ignorance of science to achieve their goals.

The simple rebuttal is to demand that, before asserting that change in the weather is “bad”, that they clearly and succinctly state “Under what conditions is ‘man made global warming’ *not* taking place”.

They won’t do this, ever, because they can’t.

They have been very careful to *not* say what MMGW is, because then the opposite, the “negative case”, of MMGW, can be defined.

In other words, they are using a circular religious argument.

“We must all worship the god Baal-Moloch, or he will kill us all.”

“But what if Baal-Moloch is a false god, so does not exist?”

“Heretic! We cannot risk the anger of Baal-Moloch! So you must give money to BM’s high priest to assuage BM’s anger!”

“Prove to me that BM exists!”

“The proof is that he will destroy us all if any of us doubt that he exists! His high priest says so!”

Man Made Global Warming in a nutshell.

Yesterday we had a climate here of 101 degrees.

Last night the climate changed for 10 minutes and we had rain.

This morning the climate was cloudy, later this afternoon the climate will change to sunny.

That is the one thing I like about the Dem's Global Warming Instant Climate Change it never gets boring.

What is not the same is: locations of temperature gauges, which have been located in places that distort accurate reporting.

Heat islands also distort temperatures, so dispersing heat from concrete jungles is the problem, not climate change.

Mr. James Delingpole from the UK Daily Mail, iirc, blasts these people. Notes that many temperature gauges are located near air conditioning units, for example. Or airports , both with lots of hot air exhaust.

May 5, 1972, downtown Tulsa, OK had a temp of 105 degrees.

Yet the High for that day was around 92 degrees outside the city.

Yes, it was MAY.

Oh yeah? Look at these temps from the past!

I took one look at the jet stream back in May and said to everyone that they need to sell the cows, and get ready for a very dry year.

When the jet stream goes East, curves up and makes an inverted U or omega, and YOU are in the middle of the omega, get ready for dry, hot, dry.

There is a theory that the jet stream path is influenced by the position of the magnetic north pole. It is moved significantly. If the theory is correct, we are in for a very extended period of drought.
