DETROIT (AP) Vice President Joe Biden, in a speech Sunday to the nation's second largest teachers unions, said Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney doesn't treat public education as a priority and distrusts the hardworking teachers who struggle to create opportunity for the nation's young people.
Biden addressed 2,500 delegates at the American Federation of Teachers national convention in Detroit on Sunday.
Biden painted Romney as planning to gut education funding to finance tax breaks for the wealthy.
From what Romney and his GOP rivals said during the primary debates, "it looks like they don't think public education is worth the investment," Biden said.
A spokesman for Romney's campaign accused Biden and President Barack Obama of kowtowing to teachers unions. "Instead of putting students first, this administration has put the union bosses that fund their political campaigns ahead of what's best for our children," said spokesman Sean Fitzpatrick.

I got that far and was laughing too hard to continue. Rimshot Joe really cracks me up. That boy is a real hoot!
The USA had the highest literacy rate in the world before the federal government started funding local schools.
American Federation of Teachers and child abusers...
That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking with it.
I don’t see the value in education either, when the kids don’t care, parents don’t care, teachers don’t care AND are incompetent, principals don’t care, those at the city/state/federal levels in any education department role don’t care, those at colleges would rather indoctrinate than teach, well...
No, I don’t see much value in education these days. Maybe I’m biased though, it took me 5 years and 2 months to finish high school.
hahahahha and biden does i suppose????
Romney doesn't see value in education union-thug babysitters.
That's impressive.
I think it's safe to say Romney understands the value of education.
Willard didnt go to public schools...
As the son of a rich man he went to ptivate schools...
. . . 3.7 GPA at BYU
. . . top 5% of class at Harvard Law School
. . . top 10% of class at Harvard Business School (MBA)
Yeah, right, he does not value education. I get it. Did Biden ever apologize for that plagiarism he perpetrated?
Biden is an idiot. ...On his best day, or even the best day he could fake or plagiarize, Biden couldn’t hold a candle to Romney’s educational achievements. For Biden and his Democrat comrades, education is a means of control and tyranny over the dumbed-down masses. Real education is a means of acquiring the liberty and power to resist tyrants like Biden and his master Obama.
I’m a little surprised no one has come up with an a$$ backward thing for 0bama/ Biden yet or a Commie art play on them being so “retro”.
Glad I wasn’t drinking anything when I saw the title of this thread. Coming from Joe Baloney, it’s a scream. (LOL Just saw the “aft”. Is that because they can’t find their “aft” with both hands? Or maybe they just forgot the “D”)
NEA means and parents know it equals Never Educate Anyone.
Our children are taught by idiots.
Isn’t it amazing? Liberal Democrats like Biden can so categorically require children to sit in rows, learn their progressive mantra by rote, and then robotically march to the polling booth to support the Party and its tyrannical intentions...
...and never once notice how much of their musical shibboleths have long since denounced that very behavior.
I’d suggest Biden’s operating from the premise that The Wall simply isn’t high or impenetrable enough but I think he’d be the first to ask ‘Which one’s Pink?’
This is the proper response and one that is gaining traction nation wide as we witness what has happened in Wisconsin and the bankruptcies in California and elsewhere. Emphasize that it it the UNIONS that don't value education and that more money spent doesn't make it to the students.
:-) Haven’t heard that before, but it’s a good one. Sadly, too true.
Libtards, "journalists" and politicians alike, just cannot admit that tax cuts result in more revenue.
