When something doesn’t go according to plan, there’s always a bureaucrat waiting in the wings to enact some sort of “rule.”
Hey, I know. They can have a penalty, er tax, that citizens must pay for failing to come watch the games.
UK should never get the Olympic ever again. From that horrible opening ceremony ignoring most of their nation’s great history and ignoring to give a nod to Olympic to nobody showing up to events. Did you see how much of the crowd left when the parade of nations started? It was disrespectful. Sure some people leave but every Olympics I’ve ever seen 80% if the stadium stays to cheer and welcome every country that walks onto the field.
According to an article I read earlier, they gave away many blocks of Sponsor tickets and many didn’t show up for those good seats because of the dreadful commute. So who’s poor planning is at fault? The commuter or the Olympic Sponsor Committee?
Yes, penalize the ticket holder for getting stuck in their lousy traffic system.
Gee, sounds fair in a socialistic way.
Look for the Olympics to go the way of a good general and just fade away.
The Chinese had no problem filling seats but were embarrassed by the seas of Asian faces whenever the events were broadcast on television. They aggressively recruited non-Chinese by offering first discounted tickets then later free tickets when that didn't work.
My daughter and her foreign classmates were flattered, at first. But after a half dozen events or so, they caught on to what was happening and it was beginning to interfere with their studies. It wasn't easy to say "no thanks" but they really didn't want to take tickets for events they couldn't attend or, worse yet, get some Chinese friend in trouble for sitting in seats designated for foreign audience showcasing.
Maybe Mitt should take a two week break from the campaign and straighten this out.
Well, there's your answer. Tickets are too expensive in today's economy. The hour and forty-five minute medal sessions tickets range from about $80 to $700.
Typically crass industrial ‘sports’.
Let’s sell the same seat multiple times.
The customer purchased the use of a seat for a specified time and place. What of the core concepts of contracts does that money grubbing twit not understand?
They need to fill them with mannequins.
I watched men’s gymnastics last night, and was surprised to see an entire section of prime seats empty.
I notice that when I was trying to watch some of the venues online. Several venues had entire sections of empty seating. I thought that strange, as most previous Olympics had standing room only.
LOL. He left out "... and we owe our British politicians who are really looking bad with all those empty seats. This could cost some of them their seats in the next election."
Sounds like Romney is now a bit vindicated... maybe the olympic planners didn’t have all their shiite quite together after all...
Funny, but here in Franklin County, AL, I haven't heard any citizens taking part in this "fierce debate". ROLL TIDE
What are the ticket prices? Are people buying them and not showing up? Or are people just not buying them?
Invite the homeless muzzies in for free.
Seats are empty? No problem, we’ll prevent people from coming in if they arrive too late.
Liberal “logic” at work.
I guess Romney did not know what he was talking about regarding Britain’s ability to run the Olympics.
