Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathys recent comments about gay marriage has caused quite a stir across the country and has City Councilman Jim Kenney fired-up.
Last week during a radio show Cathy said, "I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."
Cathy later said that he is supportive of the "biblical definition of the family unit."
In a letter to Cathy, Kenney wrote: "It is with profound disillusionment and a sense of deep sadness that I write this letter in response to your recent comments. Last week you expressed support for denying gay Americans the prized right of marriage that heterosexual couples in this country so freely take for granted."
"As an American you are legally entitled to your opinion, regardless of how insensitive and intolerant it may be, but as a fellow American and an elected member of Philadelphia City Council; I am entitled to express my opinion as well. So please take a hike and take your intolerance with you. There is no place for this type of hate in our great City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection."
And when City Council returns in September, Kenney said he will introduce a resolution condemning Cathy and the company. Check out the rest of Kenneys letter here.
These guys sure run from boogeyman to boogeyman in an attempt to distract people from their own miserable failings...
Yep. that’s about the size of it.
Chick Fil A is clearly the biggest problem in Philly.
Right, as if they have time to worry about this silly feud.
most people don’t even agree with this homo agenda let lne most in their cities and yet these idiots act as if there is the majority for it.
For crying out loud were talking about two of the same sex who like to get off sexually and because of hwo they have their sex they think they should be married playing fmaily’s and getting children and yet the media which supports them ignores how it;s unantural, unhealthy the diseases and sickenss which comes from it and clearly how they act even over a chicken store shows how mentally screwed up they are.
they’re typical moronic liberals. all these idiots haven’t learned from Mumble’s getting backlashed?
Even the ACLU is basically saying ‘try banning Chick Fil A and we’ll sue’
Why are more of these fools talking nonsense?
white libs support the homo agenda especially elitists who have money = campaign contributions. You’re right though, the average working American is against gay marriage.
Personally I don’t think I would mind if homos boycotted any restaurant I owned. Everywhere they go they think they need make a statement by groping each other and making out in front of families and children.
Parents don’t want their children exposed to that crap. Let’s face it we would leave a restaurant even if it were heteros doing the same thing. The thing is most heteros are not offended when you point out that young kids are present, but homos will go through the roof if you happen to explain it would be better if they took activities to a motel room.
Might I suggest Chick-fil-a abandon plans to build in these cities and come to my home area in the busy northern metro area of the metro area namely the 6th district of Minnesota, we gave the house Michele Bachman, we understand the founders point of view. Many of us agree with him..
I *hate* dealing with the libs when I am just trying to get lunch at the only store in my area. Right in the heart of the UofM..
They have no shame.
I say take away his guns!
“a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”
I’m sorry, but if you consider it a difficult assignment to know “what marriage is about” then you are an idiot.
I’m “glad” Philadelphia chimed in, it was here that I learned how democrat politicians waste the citizens time and money on liberal nonsense, and cause everything to be more expensive.
I go to a busy Chik Fil A in Center City, Philadelphia. They employ nothing but black women (an occasional black man) in a city with horrible poverty and unemployment, also a city which chases businesses out with high taxes.
And this moron would drive out a chicken sandwich company that employs citizens because the owner of the company doesn’t support gay marriage. Sure that makes sense. /s
Let’s all give jackass no. 2 (boylover Menino is no. 1) a call at 215.686.3450 or 215.686.3451 and lend him some well deserved “support”
You’re brave to still live in Philly.
Better to have 324 dead bodies than to profess Christian belief.
How warped can these people get.

CFA should take this advice. In fact, other businesses should do the same, whether they agree with CFA’s position or not. Bye, bye jobs. So long tax revenue.
This matter has less to do with religious beliefs and more to do with self-righteous individuals dictating what is acceptable speech or not. Bit by bit, our freedoms are being taken away from us. It's long past time we take a stand before all those freedoms are gone.
Ate at CFA today. It was 3:30 pm, not usually a busy time but the place was packed. A very clean and happy place!
So essentially, the mayor is saying that while we’re all entitled to our opinions, I’m more entitled to mine, so get out of town. That about it?
There is no legal basis for blocking a business from opening anywhere in this country provided it meets zoning codes and isn’t a public nuisance. Not liking the beliefs of the company president doesn’t count. Is there any limit to the stupidity of people democrats will elect? I hope Chick-Fil-A sues every one of these cities for all they can get. I know, it’s the poor taxpayer who gets stuck with paying these settlements but, hey, they elected these morons and stupid needs to carry a price.
If there was one of these places in my town, I’d be there going tonight for dinner.
