Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon.com, and his wife, MacKenzie, have agreed to donate $2.5 million to help pass a same-sex marriage referendum in Washington State, instantly becoming among the largest financial backers of gay marriage rights in the country.
With the gift, the couple have doubled the money available to the proponents of Referendum 74, which would legalize same-sex marriage in the state by affirming a law that passed the Legislature this year. Courts or lawmakers have declared gay marriage legal in six other states, but backers of such measures have never succeeded at the ballot box.
Proponents of the effort in Washington State called it a game-changing gift that gives them a fighting chance in November.
To get this from a straight, married couple sends a powerful message that marriage is seen as a fundamental question of fairness, Zach Silk, the campaign manager for Washington United for Marriage, said Thursday in an interview.

Several years ago I started compiling a list of all the retail establishments that were “off limits” per FR dogma.
After several months the list of national companies literally shrunk to zero.
I would appreciate knowing of a reasonable alternative to Amazon.com. I have used them a lot in the past...not so much any more..:))
The blog portion of the website is rich with stories of bravery.
One brave person was Barack Obama for being brave enough to support gay marriage, a student who was brave enough to come out as a transgender, and Chaz Bono for undergoing gender transformation.
Also, the blog announced the winning poster made by a student showing two guys kissing, with a helpful Gaga-approved definition of bravery:
Bravery is knowing that you cant change who you are, and that youre worth it.
Major barf.

I used to shop often at Amazon, notice I said used to, from now on Amazon will be my on-line vendor of last resort. It was my first stop when shopping.
2 Corinthians 6:17 “Come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”
It’s time. If not now, when? If you don’t stand against blasphemers you become partakers. Yes, this is about to get very hard and inconvenient to do but consider what your children’ s world is becoming. If we turn a blind eye because we don’t want to be inconvenienced or lose money then we are condoning. It might be a good excuse for this world but I personally doubt it’s going to fly in the next.
Just got off the phone with amazon. Been a customer with them from the beginning. Told them I was done and to remove any trace of me from their system. Told them why.
Truth! and well stated.
Watch them drop the tax like a hot Chick-fil-A nugget.
21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord.
23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
26 And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:
28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.
29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake.
30 And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.
31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake.
32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.
33 And the Lord went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

Glad you aren't God.
I don't see anyone preventing him from having an opinion, or of expressing it. Are you suggesting I am not allowed to express a counter opinion?
As for my considering the welfare of the employees, that is the job of management - not mine.
Time for all FReepeprs AND Catholics to stop using Amazon!!!!
I want to make sure that closing your Amazon.com account won't cause problems with any open transactions or other websites you might visit. Here are some things to keep in mind: -- If you use your Amazon.com log-in on other sites (e.g., Endless.com, Audible.com, certain international Amazon sites, etc.), you'll also lose access to those accounts. -- If you've placed orders on AmazonLocal, you'll no longer have access to your vouchers. -- Any open orders you have will be canceled. -- All subscriptions will be canceled (Amazon Prime, Subscribe and Save, etc.). -- If you have a remaining Amazon.com Gift Card or promotional credit balance, you won't have access to use the funds. -- Returns and refunds can't be processed for orders on closed accounts. -- You won't be able to re-download the Kindle content purchased on this account. -- You won't be able to access Amazon Cloud Drive content, Amazon Instant Video content, or Amazon Appstore content. -- Your Amazon Payments account will be closed and can't be reopened. -- We can't transfer the history of an account to another account. -- You'll no longer have access to your Associates, Amazon Web Services, Seller, Author Central, Kindle Direct Publishing and/or Mechanical Turk accounts.
Trying to tell you they are everywhere and emmeshed in everything. Creepy.
And I’m glad I can read His Word. You apparently wouldn’t be in Lot’s corner, huh? Oh well, entirely your choice.
“Judge not” doesn’t mean “Discern not”, “indentify not”, “Flee not” or “Oppose not” evil.
I'll be looking for an alternative to Amazon also...
Does he also support ‘marriage’ between a man and four women?
Does he support ‘marriage’ between a man and a 9 year old child?
Does he support ‘marriage’ between people and animals? Does he support ‘marriage’ between close relatives?
First cousins... brother and sister?
Does he support ‘marriage’ between parents and children?
He needs to tells us if he’s a bigot - relative to those who are ‘more liberal’ than he is - and yes, Muslims can marry first cousins - and 9 year old children.
I’ll be looking for an alternative to Amazon also...
What a shame.
Where do he get his money? For you and others! Duh!
He already has more money than he can ever spend. They could lose their jobs over something like this.
Then he can put his money back into the company. After all, Bezos can do what he wants to with his own money
You are not consistent with your opinion. Fail! It's not the customer who provides any security for it's employment, it's the owners. You just decided you would support evil, nothing more.
