ELBERTA, Summerdale --
President Obama's decision to talk gun control and discuss a ban on assault weapons are hot topics along the Gulf Coast.
Despite the tragic, shooting massacre in Colorado, gun shops continue to sell AR-15's and AK-47's to gun enthusiasts and sportsmen.
The AR-15 is NOT widely used in crime.
According the FBI, of the 199 homicides recorded in Alabama in 2010, handguns were used in 112, hands, fists or feet were used in 17, knives were used in 23....none were committed with a rifle.
Gun control has and will be debated for decades...an issue now on presidential campaign agenda.
Nah he just bought it to scare thieves. ;p
A Magazine holds loose cartridges within a case that is attached to the rife.
A clip (for a rifle) holds cartridges (somewhat like a paperclip) that are usually loaded into an affixed magazine.
There are also clips (like a moon clip) that holds pistol cartridges for easy and fast loading in some revolvers.
How about that NSSF?
“The AR in “AR-15” rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. “AR” does NOT stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifle.”

“although a 50 BMG has NEVER been used in a crime.”
It has, just only a few dozen at most. Certainly not a first choice drive-by gangbanger weapon.
Pedantic.
AR15 = semi-auto version of the M16.
Yes the gun originally dubbed “AR15” was originally full auto. Terms change over time, just as “films” are digitally rendered now, “batteries” are portable electric storage devices, etc.
And you know it, so stop trying to confuse & muddle an already contentious issue.
Sorry, didn’t realize this was a resurrected thread.
