If Mitt Romney Won't Stand Up For Himself, Why Should We Stand Up For Him?
The Daily Caller ^ | July 25, 2012 | Justin Green

Posted on 07/26/2012 8:00:37 AM PDT by Tau Food

Republicans are kidding themselves if they believe Mitt Romney, at least his current iteration, can win the election merely by attacking Barack Obama. Given Romney’s lack of conservative principles, perhaps that is for the best.

Who is Mitt Romney? What does he believe? Where are his core principles?

There is no need to seek penitence if you don’t know the answer to the preceding questions. After all, no one could provide a consistent answer. Romney was for gun control before he was the NRA’s proudest supporter, for health care reform before he championed the repeal of Romneycare (excuse me, Obamacare), for gay rights before he decided marriage was between a man and a woman, a fierce defender of abortion rights before he became the chief opponent of Roe v. Wade, and, well, you get the picture. (It seems Romney learned a lot from his fellow Massachusetts resident, John Kerry.)

Romney is a principled defender of things he finds incredibly important, until he discards those principles the moment the weather vane changes direction.

Eric Fehrnstrom (Romney’s chief campaign adviser) was speaking the truth this spring when he declared the Romney campaign would shake itself up like an Etch-A-Sketch after the Republican primary ended. But Fehrnstrom wasn’t telling the entire truth.

I say your a grade A liberal A$$hole for a comment like that.

You petulant little AB0 snots think you have permission to run roughshod over other members with your vicious attacks and character assassinations of those who refuse to vote in blind lockstep with the e-GOP for a slimy socialist pos like Romney, don’t you?

Yawn...”0bama supporter”, “commie lover”, blah, blah. Call Karl Rove and his e-GOP cronies for some more talking points, you AB0’s are out of “original” material.

Your words/actions speak for themselves. People like you are doing more harm to this site and Conservatism in general than you’ll probably ever know.

Demeaning, excoriating and vilifying FReepers of conscience because you lack the moral fortitude to stand on CONSERVATIVE principles is no excuse.

Try to sell your Alinskyite garbage somewhere else. I’m not buying the $hit sandwich you’re trying to sell.

There will be an election in a few short months. One choice is a known Communist. He is asserting dictatorial powers even now. The other choice is a moderate Republican. Not my preference, but my preference did not win the primary. So, the country is at a critical point. The election is at hand. It will be close and every vote will matter because the Communist cheats. And here are you babbling about Karl Rove. What a pathetic excuse of a citizen you are to let the country become fully communist because of your supposed “principles”. And tell me how your principles will feel when your 401K is taken and your right to vote in 2016 is “suspended”? If you have kids be sure to tell them you helped Obama end the dream of America.

Hmm ~ hard case. Did you know Arthur Bremmer, Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, Sara Jane Moore and John Hinckley, Jr all have several things in common.

First they attempted to assassinate a President or candidate for the Presidency.

Secondly they are LOOSE!

One of the things that happens with the sort of sermonizing you are engaging in is you stir up the world's Bremmers, Frommes, Moores and Hinckleys ~ and probably 400,000 others of their kind currently on the Secret Service's watch list.

Do you know how many of those people read these threads? They are waiting for someone to say it was OK and to try again.

I prefer to not play that game. You can, if you wish, but find somewhere else.

Obama: no vote Romney: no vote Who am I helping here?

Obama, you're still helping Obama.  B. S.

Reason being there are more of them than there are of us at least at this point. Look, there would be far more support for the nominee if folks had listened to us during the nomination process.  Don't come singing the blues to us now regarding the fact your guy is an untouchable to us.  I sympathize with your plight, but I played no part in burying us this way.  I'm out.  Give this some thought in 2016, or you'll wind up in the same chin deep pool of horse 'stuff'.

Besides having a huge built in block of black voters, we have the MSM and the alphabet networks who continue to feed a constant stream of pro Obama pablum to the masses, then couple that with what seems to be a never ending stream of money flowing in from sources both foreign and domestic I'm not sure we'll survive the next 4 years. At least with Romney, we might have a chance, we know with Obama we won't.  Once again, read my lips.  If you want my support, nominate a man I can support.  If you don't want my support, nominate someone I can't support.  It's that simple.  Unfortunately the party made the wrong choice this year.  I'm out.

One last thing, we have to vote every conservative into Congress we can and, who knows, Romney may become more right of center after he's in office, but we have to get him there first.  Well, good luck with that.  The party didn't care who I supported earlier this year.  It was deaf to me.  So now, no matter how hard you yell, I'm deaf to you.

Heaven knows that will never happen under Obama.
Yep, that's right.  Funny how that didn't matter in January through March earlier this year.  I and a hell of a lot of other folks made it crystal clear we would never support the likes of Romney.  Despite this we got Romney.  They don't listen to me.  I don't listen to them.  That's how it works.  What numbskull thought it would work differently?

The Republican party is on the verge of losing a life-long Republican in me.  I've been voting for 43 years now.  Two out of the last three presidential elections found me not voting for the Republican nominee.  Every nomination process I try to sound the voice of reason.  Every nomination process the most Leftist of our candidates is selected before I even get a chance to vote.

Democrats are voting in our selection process.  Elected Republicans always voice loud support for the most Leftist candidate.  The RNC is of no help whatsoever to the Conservative cause.  Worse than that, it actually thumbs it's nose at Conservatives, and does everything in it's power to support Leftist policy.

I've had it.  If I wanted to vote for Democrats, I'd register as a fricken Democrat.  What part of this are the Republican leaders not able to grasp?

If I wanted a Leftist, I'd register in the party of the most Leftist people and vote for their 100% grade A Leftist.

Right now I'm looking for a party that is willing to put up an antagonist to Leftists.  Let me know if you hear of one.

Did I say one way or the other who I was going to vote for? Nope. I’m fortunate in a way, my vote in CA means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Does that make you “feel” any better?

I’m calling your words and behavior here on FR to task.

I’m not “letting the country” do a damned thing. The people have chosen their punishment via 0bama and Romney. A fool’s errand if ever there was one.

Go drink some more e-GOP kool-aid and calm your nerves.

In the meantime, I repeat, you and folks like you who resort to the tactics you do; the smears and bullying here on FR are the enemy within the gates. You and your like minded sycophants are intent on destroying what was once a cohesive group of principled CONSERVATIVES, from within.

All in the name of “preserving” a system that has shown itself to be wholly corrupt.

You don’t have the balls, spine, or conviction to try and force change, just go along because you FEAR the temporal.

Keep on with name calling, it rings hollow.

Your one of those brokered convention types.

He’s not going anywhere and to think that some ground swell is going to be big enough to get rid of him when he’s currently outraising Obama is folly.

I understand and agree that he’s not the conservative’s conservative, but all of his faults are nowhere near BOs. Considering the liberty BO has already stolen from us and knowing what he wants to further do, just because Romney doesn’t line up on all party planks doesn’t mean he’s looking to change the construct of the country like BO is already doing.

Not sure why you are so worried about the GOP when the whole country is going down the tubes?

But you are free to choose your voting path. Best of luck.

Romney's problem isn't that he doesn't line up with the party's planks, it's that his CAREER lines up with Obama's party's plans.

Romney is running under the wrong label.

BTW, the idea is not a brokered convention ~ you have to assume Romney has that bought out by now. Instead it's forcing it to the House.

At that point it'll be pretty obvious neither Obama nor Romney is America's fair haired boy.
