Republicans are kidding themselves if they believe Mitt Romney, at least his current iteration, can win the election merely by attacking Barack Obama. Given Romneys lack of conservative principles, perhaps that is for the best.
Who is Mitt Romney? What does he believe? Where are his core principles?
There is no need to seek penitence if you dont know the answer to the preceding questions. After all, no one could provide a consistent answer. Romney was for gun control before he was the NRAs proudest supporter, for health care reform before he championed the repeal of Romneycare (excuse me, Obamacare), for gay rights before he decided marriage was between a man and a woman, a fierce defender of abortion rights before he became the chief opponent of Roe v. Wade, and, well, you get the picture. (It seems Romney learned a lot from his fellow Massachusetts resident, John Kerry.)
Romney is a principled defender of things he finds incredibly important, until he discards those principles the moment the weather vane changes direction.
Eric Fehrnstrom (Romneys chief campaign adviser) was speaking the truth this spring when he declared the Romney campaign would shake itself up like an Etch-A-Sketch after the Republican primary ended. But Fehrnstrom wasnt telling the entire truth.

So DoughtyOne, you are helping Obama win, since there is no other viable alternative. A vote for a third party could make sense if that third party candidate had a solid base of support. Since there is no such conservative third party choice who has a chance, in this year that could be our last election, you are acting to help the incumbent Communist, as opposed to the best chance to beat the Communist. I understand the fact that Mitt Romney is not conservative. He was not my guy at all. But he is the one choice we now have to block Obama. And the effect of your plan is obviously to help Obama.
Because he doesn’t throw red meat to us in the conservative camp? He never will because he’s not one.
Not sure where else you would be going with that. Even if it were true I’ll vote for him to win, despite himself.
Obama: no vote
Romney: no vote
Who am I helping here?
Not voting for Romney is no more a support of Obama, than not voting for Obama is a support of Romney.
At least you didn’t use the old idiotic, “Not voting for Romney is a vote for Obama” B. S. line. Unfortunately, you implied it just the same.
Kent, I can’t cast a vote for the likes of Romney. Give me a man I can support and something very interesting will happen. I’ll vote for him. Baring that, kiss my vote good-bye.
“He doesnt want to win.”
Okay, I’ll bite. Give me your theory on why he would go thru all of this if he doesn’t want to win.
You are wasting your time ~ and your most valiant efforts will not be appreciated.
The guy is like a piece of wood
He's not seeing the magic ingredients in this Romney character ~ and he's asking the same questions ~ like "why doesn't he campaign"? And there's always some excuse ~ like "you should see his video".
BTW, his video doesn't get shown in places he doesn't care about like the critical swing state of Viginia!
I guarantee you, Scott Walker will support him and campaign for him in Wisconsin. So that statement is nonsense.
And since you didn’t answer my question I’ll ask it again. Why would he go thru all of this if he didn’t want to win?
I’m still not following but like I said, I’ll help him win even if he doesn’t want to.
A piece of wood is infinitely better than BO.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2910721/posts ~ You are woefully behind on the position of Governor Walker. You can’t guarantee disaggregated schiest my furry little friend......................Now, about your question ~ I’m not Mitt’s psychiatrist. Go make an appointment with him and you might find out why Romney shows no inclination whatsoever to win!
Actually, he's like a Democrat but worse. He doesn't have the courage of his convictions.
I know what Walkers position is. And as I suspected you have no idea why you keep spouting nonsense that he doesn’t want to win. You are the one saying it, not me. You must have something in your mind that leads you to believe he doesn’t want to win. What is it? You flat out state, “he doesn’t want to win”. So, again, why?
And when Walker campaigns with Romney in Wisconsin I’ll look for you to come back here and admit your mistake.
That's the problem with Mitt and the Mittbots, you people are UNWILLING and apparently UNABLE to back up your claims.
It's just like dealing with Obama and the Obots ~ there we are with the video and he says "you didn't build that" and they want us to think he said something else.
No, the reality is there in front of us and Mitt just isn't living up to your claims.
Time to trade him in on a better model candidate.
Obama, you're still helping Obama. Reason being there are more of them than there are of us at least at this point. Besides having a huge built in block of black voters, we have the MSM and the alphabet networks who continue to feed a constant stream of pro Obama pablum to the masses, then couple that with what seems to be a never ending stream of money flowing in from sources both foreign and domestic I'm not sure we'll survive the next 4 years. At least with Romney, we might have a chance, we know with Obama we won't.
One last thing, we have to vote every conservative into Congress we can and, who knows, Romney may become more right of center after he's in office, but we have to get him there first. Heaven knows that will never happen under Obama.
It is not my job to “give you a man you can support”. It is your job as a citizen to do all you can to preserve the Republic. Right now, the Republic is under direct attack from a Communist who is daily asserting the role of dictator, not President. If, in this circumstance, with an election between two candidates, one being the current Communist, and the other believing in 80% of what made this country great, you can’t vote for that guy to save the Republic, then you, sir, are a sorry excuse of a citizen. You have been handed a lot by the pure accident of where you were born. Now, man up and quit your childish stupidity and start doing all you can to defeat Obama.
Amen, amen, AMEN! Very well said.
“you people are UNWILLING and apparently UNABLE to back up your claims.”
This is really both laughable and terribly sad at the same time. What I read from Scott Walker was constructive criticism of the Romney campaign. That is fair game and some of it justified. What I did NOT read was that he didn’t support Romney. I read just the opposite. Can you show me any article or statement from Scott Walker that says he does not support Mitt Romney for president. Anything?
As for backing up claims, you are the one who “claims” that Romney doesn’t want to win. You have had repeated chances to tell me why he would go thru all of this if he didn’t want to win and you haven’t, because you can’t.
I miss the good old days here where honest, intellectual disagreements and discussions were possible. For the most part, sadly, those days are gone.
He can be counted on to take care of #1. He smells blood in the water. His criticisms are damning!
How did you survive the Kool Aid at Jonestown? Does your tinfoil hat protect you? Thankfully, you have retained your ability to speak pure gibberish devoid of actual thought. I think you could get a job at the Circus.
Just let me be frank a moment, you are exactly the type of guy the Rev. Jim Jones would love ~ willing to follow idocy blindly.
