We know that he was found with 100mg of Vicodin in his possession at the time of his arrest but we dont really know yet if he had taken any prior, live alone 100mg which would be in most cases a fatal amount for many people and or even if he was a regular user of that drug. Even for a hard core user/abuser, 100mg of Vicodin taken all at once would render most unconscious in a short time.
Im pretty confident that the police drew blood after his arrest to see what drugs he might have been on, so time will tell. And they will figure out where and from whom he got the Vicodin. (This perhaps being the very legitimate reason the police requested and were granted a seal from the judge on their search warrants).
I think it may have been part of his big plan; plant explosive in his apartment, time loud music to start prior to when the movie and his shooting rampage would start, hoping that someone would call the police and try to enter his apartment and that the resulting explosion would draw all the 1st responders to that scene thusly diverting all their attention from the movie theater and if he were shot and or injured during his getaway, he had a stash of pain killers on hand in case he needed them.
I think in his highly twisted and delusional mind, he thought he was actually going to make a getaway only to strike again somewhere later.
Opiate addiction often starts with unnecessary prescriptions written for the above reasons. I've seen these legal heroins prescribed for things like mole and wisdom teeth removals. Often ruining very good people as they surrender to the pills and send all their remaining assets to big pharma. They are the true cartels. Since 2008, addiction and injury rates from Rx opiates alone have exceeded that of ALL illegal drugs combined!
BS. Millions of people are prescribed pain killers by responsible doctors for short term pain relief of seriously painful conditions or post surgical. And the vast majority never ends up having addictions or accidents or go psycho as a result. The few people who are prone to or likely to abuse legally prescribed drugs are just as likely to use alcohol or illegal drugs.
I had a severely impacted wisdom tooth along with and infected molar removed back in the early 80s and thank God for pain Rx; I recall it was Percocet pretty much the same thing as Vicodin. I didnt take the whole Rx and flushed the unused pills down the toilet but I was very grateful to have had them that first 48 hours, after the Novocain and the effects of sedation wore off, the pain was excruciating and unbearable before I finally broke down and took the pain meds. I have lower back problems, herniated disk and most of the time I deal with the pain and spasms, use core strengthening exercises and stretching and heat pads to deal with it but every once and a while it get so bad that I really I need pain meds and muscle relaxers.
The very few who abuse Rx drugs is not a reason to keep people with legitimate needs from getting them from responsible doctors. Yea, big pharma is to blame in all this ./sarcasm
Tell me all about the evils of big pharma when you have to undergo surgery without anesthesia and or have to deal with severe pain post surgical.

Big Pharma provided the extraordinary drug cocktails that saved my husband from death by acute leukemia.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them.
