Nearly two decades before the Aurora Colorado massacre, an assault weapon-toting madmans massacre of eight people inside the 101 California highrise in San Francisco sent shock waves around the nation.
In the aftermath of that bloody day in 1993, California U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein became a leader in calling for an assault weapons ban.
This week, 19 years to the month later, Feinstein is speaking out on assault weapons, calling for a national conversation about their dangers though she admits that politically, any reforms are unlikely to happen.
Weapons of war dont belong on the streets, she said Sunday. Feinstein expressed deep concern about Colorado gunman James Holmes use of large magazines and assault weapons to shoot dozens and kill 12 in a matter of minutes. These are weapons that youre only going to be using to kill people in close combat, she told Fox News Sunday.

Then get them out of the hands of police, and especially federal police.
Oh, by the way, you don't suppose the killer specifically chose the theater because it was a gun-free zone, do you?
How ‘bout a national “conversation” about throwing out on their asses, any public servant who dares to take about our rights as guaranteed in the Bill of Rights? Sounds like a deal to me.
Sales of “assault weapons” will skyrocket.
Thanks, Diane! Competing with Barky for “Firearm Salesperson Of The Year” honors, are ya?
Perhaps Ms. Frankenstein should ask herself why she is using this situation for political gain. The liberals never let a crisis go to waste.
It’s the liberal media and liberal Hollywood that are creating these monsters.
Please Diane, bring this issue back to the floor of the Senate. We need you now more than ever.

She would have been thrilled if Holmes had used THESE methods! At least no one was shot!

Ms. Feinstein later amended her remarks to add further ...
unless me, my family, or our bodyguards have them"
Typical lefty. Me and mine deserve protection, you and yours does not, unless me and mine give it.
Additional remarks from feinstein later included but were not limited to ... "Can't we all just get you'all gone!"
Oh, by the way, you don't suppose the killer specifically chose the theater because it was a gun-free zone, do you?
Both good points. And I wonder - Did the killer choose an "assault rifle " and a high-capacity magazine because he wanted to make a point about the call to renew the Assault Weapons Ban? Was he also trying to illustrate an argument for gun control? Seems like he made a choice of implement to commit mayhem, what with the pipe bombs in his apartment and all.
The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Theres only one reason for the 2nd Amendment. Its so you and I can own guns and KILL leaders of our country who have become tyrants!
Sorry but Weapons of War” were on the streets in Lexington in 1775, you SF Communist Anti-American SlimeSlut.

Madame Feinsteinn, the only weapon of war on the planet earth is mankind himself.
Without the man, his tools are useless objects.
You are simply too stupid to realize that it is from us that evil comes, not from a device.
Until you can recognize what the actual cause is, you will never have any hope of coming up with a solution, in fact, your ignorance will serve only to make matters worse, so please, go away.
Ha ha, I knew this would come up. I think that might be over the top though. Realistically, the "well regulated" part of the 2nd is about making sure we can be disciplined and on target with whatever weapon we use to protect the security of the "free state"...ie being free.
