SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Mitt Romney says President Barack Obama's decision to meet with the families of victims of the Colorado shooting was "the right thing."
The Republican presidential candidate spoke to donors in San Francisco Sunday night at roughly the same time Obama consoled grieving families in Aurora, Colo.

I have been thinking about this today.
I want a President who is dull. D U L L. We barely have to see their mug.
DULL but effective at his/her job.
Work with Congress. Keep us informed with prime time addresses like
Reagan. BUT SPARINGLY.
After election, I really don’t want to see Romney’s mug.
When did the US President have to jump into all these media sensations
24/7 cable events? I realize 12 people died and many are injured, but
bad things happen all over the US. The President has no direct business
there. It’s not a federal issue.
The President does not tell us every week how many US soldiers died.
Only ABC This week on Sunday has it at the end.
When did the President become the Healer in Chief? THank god the
families or the powers that be banned politicians in this year’s Sept. 11
remembrance.
WHy can’t we privately deal with things.
I guess it ties in with Obama’s thinking we are collectivists.
The media and the journolists and the TMZ crowd. We all have
to think and act as one.
He has to be in the center of everything.
I feel badly for the families but I am not watching any Colorado
press radio/TV. Once it is mentioned, gone!
Very well stated. One more: I want to see no more threads on this topic here! (HA! Dream on.)
Romney said the right thing.
Agreed, he was caught b/w Barack & a hard place ... if asked point-blank, what’s he supposed to say?
However I think that the visit, however well-meaning (a stretch for BHO), was rushed and timed to deflect from current campaign events.
Typically Americans tend to get fatigued by the President. This normally sets in during the second half of his second term. But Obama’s not a normal President. He’s made more special appearances and had news conferences following every little even that’s happened in the world since taking office. Heck, he may have already surpassed Fidel Castro in some degree. Is it possible that Obama may have sped up the presidential fatigue process?
Of course any intelligent American had had enough of this man from the start of his campaign. The far left could never have enough. But those who claim they are (for whatever reason) still undecided, will a portion of them be suffering from “Obama Fatigue”?
To me it seems like he’s been in office 8 years already.
Your alternative?
What do you recommend we do?
Absolutely!
Did you see when he was speaking from the hospital podium?
Again a fly is surrounding his face and mouth..
He is Lord of the Flies!
Yup!..but i must say......Why are u always the 1st to pick out the feathers to find the meat???....You ruin it for the hand-ringers...
I guess people that have a problem with Romney’s words could suggest something better for him to say. Such as:
“Obama’s just going there for political purposes, not to really console the families.”
...as if saying something like that will help Romney win. Come on, let’s get real here - we may not like the president, but if the roles were reversed President Romney would be doing EXACTLY the same thing and candidate Obama would be praising him.

Expect the Bishop channeling McCain to tell us before November that “Re-electing Obama is the right thing!”
Surprised there weren’t any crows flying around Damien.
Notice how few words Big Media put within quotes while citing Romney.
Trust NOTHING from Hussein’s pwned Big Media.
They tried this trick a couple of weeks ago with another odd quote.
Hello, Romney! Obama is CAMPAIGNING! The victims and their loved ones are props. He doesn’t give a da** about them.
Is Romney really this stupid?
You do what you have to do. I'll do what I have to do.

BobL,
You are right on target. The IQ on some of these posts lowered the IQ Average of Free republic by 50%.
Let’s say that Romney comes out and says, “Obama has no purpose in visiting the victims of this crime.” For the next seven days he is having to respond to that statement to every member of press he meets.
He’s not supporting Obama if Obama does something right. He is supporting the action of what he’s doing.
By the way, I am so anti-Obama, I’m going to vote against him . . . that’s better than some of you can say.
