When the London games officially launch July 27, Bob Costas will stage his own protest of what he calls a "baffling" decision: the NBC sportscaster plans to call out the International Olympic Committee for denying Israel's request for a moment of silence acknowledging the massacre of 11 Israeli athletes and coaches at the 1972 Games.

Why is just Israel calling for that? Why not every decent or allegedly decent country, such as the USA and Canada?

Heck if someone served a strip of bacon there would be an outrage from certain teams. The whole Israeli team was murdered, and I don’t recall much of an outrage to have lasted very long.
There was more outrage in 1976 when the African nations boycotted because New Zealand was allowed to participate after they allowed a South African Rugby team to visit New Zealand.
I cannot abide Bob Costas. He makes watching the Olympics an excruciating experience.
But I gotta give him props here.
He’s right. The IOC is wrong - despicably, horribly wrong.
Yup, good for Bob, and he’ll probably catch some heat from some of his peers for saying so.
Ain't that a first! (NOT!!)
Not the first time this has happened....the IOC is basically anti-Semitic.
There are so few Muslim countries that fully participate...their boycotting the games over these things has zero impact
In the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norwegian speed skater Johan Olav Koss (who was like the Norwegian team captain) wanted to do a short memorial service at the Opening Ceremonies for the Israeli athletes murdered in 1972 Olympics....the IOC shot that down, too.
Although Lillehammer was the scene of a 1973 Mossad hit on some of the PLO terrorists who murdered the Israelis...there are so few Muslim at the Winter Games, holding a Memorial would not have caused any outcry
I did a college paper on this subject some years ago...so I am quite familiar with the IOC being anti-Semitic in regards to the murdered Israeli athletes. And, troubling that so few countries are willing to speak up about it
I am not a Costas fan but on this issue I am with him.
Anti-Jewish hate is alive and well all over Europe.
If the controversy was about the murder of 11 limp-wristed Euro-Queers, or 11 radical muslim terrorists with bloody hands, the Olympics would have a complete program to honor them.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

You really would have liked him last night when he praised Mitt Romney's role in rescuing the 2002 Winter Olympics.
