Penn State president orders Paterno statue removal
Associated Press – 4 mins 2 secs ago

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Penn State University will remove the famed statue of Joe Paterno outside its football stadium, eliminating a key piece of the iconography surrounding the once-sainted football coach accused of burying child sex abuse allegations against a retired assistant.

The university said Sunday that it will take down the larger-than-life monument in the face of an investigative report by former FBI Director Louis Freeh that found the late coach, along with three top Penn State administrators, concealed the abuse claims against Jerry Sandusky more than a decade ago in order to shield the university and its football program from negative publicity.

Construction vehicles and police arrived shortly after dawn Sunday, barricading the street and sidewalks near the statue, erecting a chain-link fence then concealing the statue with a blue tarp.

A live video feed posted on the website of the Centre Daily Times of State College showed workers in white hard hats draping a plastic sheet over the statue, preparing for its removal.

Why should, say, the players on the volleyball team have to be punished because of what paterno did?

As I and others have suggested, let the students transfer out without penalty.

Agree, except I think the college should be shut down, as an example to others who try to cover this up.

You think the entire school, from the President to the trustees to the school Deans, etc., knew what was going on?

Are these the same ones that did this investigation ?

Climategate: Penn State Professor Mann under investigation

From the link...

"The University is looking into this matter further, following a well defined policy used in such cases. No public discussion of the matter will occur while the University is reviewing the concerns that have been raised.

My question: What does this say for the integrity of their entire department? It is hard to imagine that Mann was the only person involved in manipulating the data at Penn State. What other faculty, and perhaps even grad students were part of the scheme?"

Now is the time to investigate their investigation while the mood is right to have them open the doors to that one as well. Happy Valley is not going to be very cheerful for a very long time.

Like streets named For MLK, BHO named streets will need to be avoided if you are not carrying and not black. Leave them named as such, as beacons of Chicago thugism.

Read Freeh report. Most likely knowledge of pedo protection was known at higher levels than football..... ie board and trustees.

And if it's true there was a ring related to Second Mile, you can bet some high-up politicians were involved.

Graham Spanier was chosen in the mid-1990s to be president of Penn State. He was coming off a lesser job at University of Nebraska where he had punished football players for PRAYING before games. Upon arrival at Penn State, Spanier vowed to make it the "most gay friendly campus in the US." As you can see, he not only succeeded in that but made it the most NAMBLA friendly campus in the US, at least if his protection of Sandusky is any indication.

Paterno, assuming that he grasped the gravity of the situation between Sandusky and Sandusky's victims, st least reported what he had heard (not seen) to higher authorities at the university, one of whom was in charge of the captive campus police department. Schools have campus police departments so that they will not suffer embarrassment when community standards on sex, drugs and what not are transgressed by those on campus. Independent governmental police personnel are a LOT less likely to cover up for the reputation of the canmpus in the community.

Paterno is the scapegoat because he is the only one in the chain known to the national public. He is also no longer available to defend himself. Assuming that Paterno was as guilty as most folks seem to imagine, Spanier, the Trustees (probably largely chosen by Spanier or with his approval) and the school's administrators (several of whom are awaiting trial on their own criminal charges brought by the Pennsylvania Attorney General) are AT LEAST as guilty and likely more so. No one has credibly suggested that Paterno was indictable.

If we apply your standards, then the entire university should be punished for what its president, administrators and trustees did or did not do. Since Spanier is now a full sociology professor masquerading as a "scholar" (with tenure), start by shutting down the sociology department (a good idea in any event) and all other academics. Sandusky had been an assistant football coach but the coverup artists were primarily academics.

Whaddaya say: a five year suspension of the entire university? Ten? Death penalty by abolition of the school itself?

I have a better idea. Fire each and every responsible party (including McQueary who certainly delayed reporting what he could have physically stopped). If at all possible (by closing the entire university for a few years), punch the ticket on each and every teacher, allowing them to apply for their old jobs and abolish tenure. Then contact Hillsdale College for Larry Arnn's advice on replacement of Spanier, trustees, faculty and administrators (each and every one). Then announce that Penn State will henceforth be America's LEAST "gay friendly campus" and America's LEAST NAMBLA friendly campus.

Let all athletes transfer since their university has ceased temporarily to exist through no fault of their own, right down to the tiddlywinks team.

Oh, and if Former FBI Director Louis Freeh is such a world-beater of an investigator (paid by the university per order of its corrupt trustees playing collective CYA), how many "law enforcement" killers at Ruby Ridge and Waco were ever indicted due to the efforts of his FBI????? Were any of them even fired????? How about the many instances of Arkancide that occurred on his watch??? Crickets!
