Warner claimed the car had Tennessee plates, we immediately verified on FR from photos that it was Colorado plates and registered to Holmes.
A FReeper even came up with the VIN number.

The gas or toxic smoke used by Holmes has been called different things, but it doesn’t seem that people should be able to purchase such products other than the small personal defense sizes.

The whole 'spitting on everyone' in the jail thing plus acting and/or saying he's in a movie seems pretty contrived to me.

What struck me odd was the mother's call to police, but who knows what the real details of that are. I'm not clear on if she called them saying she thought was her son or if after the fact (his name announced) she says yeah it's him (i.e. she wasn't surprised).

Pepper spray (not tear gas) is made from a pepper/spice and can be accessed by anyone in the world. As for tear gas, I have no idea.

sounds like he slowly lost his mind. very smart, but socially inept, may have set high (perhaps unrealistic) expectations for himself, he devolves to the villain- the mad scientist who was genius but fails. It also may be it took that long for whatever was wrong with him (mental illness) to manifest itself. I may be wrong but I think certain forms of mental illness tend to manifest at certain ages.
