WASHINGTON President Obama's sharp turn to the offensive against GOP challenger Mitt Romney last month came at a steep cost: nearly $58 million.
That's how much the president's reelection campaign burned through in June as it pounded Romney's business record and personal finances; its relentless television campaign alone cost $38 million, according to campaign finance reports filed Friday with the Federal Election Commission.
The expensive barrage came even as Romney and his affiliated party committees outraised Obama and his Democratic Party fundraising partners for the second month in the row, $106 million to $70 million.
Heading into July, Romney and his party allies were left with nearly $170 million on hand, while Obama and the Democrats had $147 million.
That disparity along with a record-breaking $20.6-million haul in June by the pro-Romney "super PAC" Restore Our Future underscored the momentum enjoyed by Republicans in the money race, a source of sharp anxiety among Democrats.

"Thank you. Thank you very much, thank you. Thank you very much, what a night."

Thanks for taking the time to provide me with a link. Unfortunately, I do not believe anything that comes from Snopes. Long story, so I won’t get into it!
Scytl currently has contracts with 900 U.S. jurisdictions to count votes in 14 States Posted on April 14, 2012.
I’m sure I could find more confirmation, but Snopes is definitely not a good choice for me.
Here in Atlanta I was watching the British Open on ESPN today and twice a Romney attack ad from Obama came on the tube. The ad consisted started out with a video of Romney singing “America the Beautiful” and then using graphics stating “Millions in Swiss bank accounts” and “Cayman Island bank accounts” among other things. Then at the end it says Mitt Romney is the problem.
No message of accomplishment, message of what he hopes to accomplish in a second term. With this garbage Obama expects to get re-elected?
Obama didnt save the best for last, unless he thinks the Mormon Church gambit is his ace-in-the-hole.
I hope he does because I doubt it will go over very well. Especially, since Obama has little room to talk.
Why is 0bama wasting money in Georgia?
Exactly...and we passed voter ID laws here a few years back and prevailed against the Obama admin and also passed immigration reform which sent a lot of illegals scrambling out of GA. So Obama won’t be able to use the tried and true democrap tactics of stealing elections here in the Peach State.
Just to put things in perspective, there are over 129,000 voting districts in the US.
I hope this helps reduce the worrying about counting votes - we have plenty to worry about already!
IIRC, it actually says that Mitt Romney is not the solution.
I might agree that Mitt Romney is not the solution, but Baraq al-Husseini is definitely the problem.
Yeah, I guess that makes it seem a little better for me. 129,000 districts and only 900 being counted by them. Puts it in better perspective!
Just like he's pissed away 5 trillion of OUR money. What a pathetic excuse for a pResident.
I was going to say it would be like Mitt wasting money in Massachusetts. Then I remembered. He will spend quite a bit in Mass. The Boston TV stations go well into New Hampshire.
All the attack ads will not cover up the fact that Obama is a terrible president.
You've got that right. To quote a fellow Freeper, "Obama couldn't lead ants to a picnic."
Because you’re trying to move the independents you have to draw stark contrasts between you and your opponent. Romney’s doing that, but Obama continues to pray and spray. He hits himself a lot.
What I suspect is happening is Alxerod doesn’t want to lose the base and have them stay home. A lot of this expenditure is simply to keep the base engaged.
Imagine poor Pres. Obama - he moves left he loses 2/3s of voters. He moves right and he loses his base. I’m most surprised that Romney’s Boston groupies pivoted fairly quickly on this and have done a great job of landing blows. They have to stick with it until Nov. 7, though.
More than he can possibly imagine.
Obama wasted millions on the Baine meme. A political rope-a-dope.
Many have observed that the candidate that appears most positive and optimistic almost always wins.....which is why Obama will lose. In 2008, he had no record and fooled millions.
4 hours ago I talked to an enthusiastic Obama supporter from 2008 and he said there is no way he can vote for Obama now.
They already do - it's called the nightly news.
Yep, but they’re not stupid. That’s why I suspect he’s working hard to maintain the base, hence the “wasteful” Bain claims, etc.
Or the Battle of the Crater at Petersburg.
