WASHINGTON President Obama's sharp turn to the offensive against GOP challenger Mitt Romney last month came at a steep cost: nearly $58 million.
That's how much the president's reelection campaign burned through in June as it pounded Romney's business record and personal finances; its relentless television campaign alone cost $38 million, according to campaign finance reports filed Friday with the Federal Election Commission.
The expensive barrage came even as Romney and his affiliated party committees outraised Obama and his Democratic Party fundraising partners for the second month in the row, $106 million to $70 million.
Heading into July, Romney and his party allies were left with nearly $170 million on hand, while Obama and the Democrats had $147 million.
That disparity along with a record-breaking $20.6-million haul in June by the pro-Romney "super PAC" Restore Our Future underscored the momentum enjoyed by Republicans in the money race, a source of sharp anxiety among Democrats.

All of obozo’s “little donors” of 2008 are now in the unemployment line.
Just as with the stimulus, plenty spent for nothing in return.
Wonder how much his ‘You didn’t do it on your own’ is going to cost him to defend. Keep talking Barry!
The attack ads’ were mostly lies exagerrations and just plain dirty politics.
Only idiots who were already voting for Obama paid any attention to them at all.
IMO he pissed away that 38 Million.
His attacks on Romney as a 1%er and himself being a 1%er are a joke. Just as are Pelosi’s, the richest woman in Congress thanks to her voting record which has enriched her and her husband. What a corrupt bunch of leaders we have in this country. It’s shameful.
Wonder how much his ‘You didn’t do it on your own’ is going to cost him to defend.
58 million spent and didn’t get him a thing....What a warm and fuzzy feeling...
Most Americans as opposed to un-American libtards don’t care about Bain capital....
Most Americans don’t have a clue what venture capitalism is or how it works....and are a lot more concerned with the way Obama spends our money verses the way Romney spends his money
$58 million and they didn’t lay a glove on him.
“he pissed away that 38 Million.”
LMAO, and that’s only the total for June. The moron probably sunk another $70 mil in July!
NYT/CBS poll had the race at 47-46 for Romney after a month of being pounded in the negative ads. Love Karma.
The thing that cracks me up is his latest statement to his supporters. “Obama: just hit mute when people say bad things about me on TV”
The guy is a loser...
I’m surprised this skinny POS hasn’t demanded that the media outlets provide him free advertising spots.
Barack Obama: "If youve got a business, you didnt build that. Somebody else made that happen.Once again, the disastrous failures of this administration can be tracked back to the incompetence of one man.
Chump change when you are given 24/7 favorable coverage by virtualy 100% of the national media. Even playing your attack ads on the evening “news” pretending it’s a legitamate
story.
GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks BarnacleCenturion. Zero’s money-laundering ops overseas (the Koranimals of the PLO, for example) have stalled as the the jihadists achieve what they said they wanted, and now they say it’s not good enough, and that it’s Barry’s fault. The Saudis have been undermining the Russians and Hugo Chavez in Venezuela, and George Soros for that matter, by selling record amounts of crude. Meanwhile (despite Zero’s bow to the King) the House of Saud wonders what Zero and his gang of *s are trying to accomplish in foreign policy. And it’s going to get worse for them.
IOW, I’m not entirely upset with the outcome of Zero’s continuous series of foolish anti-American blunders.
Reminiscent of the South’s 2 hour cannon barrage to begin their horrible day at Gettysburg.
Obama didn’t save the best for last, unless he thinks the Mormon Church gambit is his ace-in-the-hole.
Costly and ineffective at best and counterproductive at worst. Pretty much sums up the defining attributes of this entire administration, doesn't it?
He gets hundreds of millions of this in their biased and favorable "news" items, aka propaganda.
