The fifth and final paper in The Lancet Series on physical inactivity explained that because of the global reach, high prevalence, and colossal harms of inactivity, it should be considered pandemic.
Harold W. Kohl, III, leading author and from the University of Texas Health School of Public Health, said:

These pea brains can even manage a country’s issues let alone the globe’s problems. What a bunch of hyper busy bodies and bullies.
If gas prices go up much more, a lot of us will be walking, so it’s all good.
Barf.
Nanny State PING!
Prats. It is not pandemic. No one catches physical inactivity from another. Also considering that most of the world still has to do hard physical labor to earn even a pittance it is shows an appalling ignorance of the real global health needs.
It’s 2012 going on 1984.
Stopping something inactive.
There’s one of your dumber headlines.
When they finally manage to push the global economy over the cliff, we’ll all be getting plenty of exercise —
At first, we’ll be rioting and looting, or defending ourselves from rioters and looters...
After that, for the ones that survive, it’ll be a dawn-to-dusk scramble to eke out a meager existence...
Problem solved....
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? (1969)
“The lives of a disparate group of contestants intertwine in an inhumanely grueling dance marathon.”

German WW2 posters promoted health and physical fitness in line with Nazi ideals. This poster advertising the Reich’s Sports Day for the League of German Maidens equates individual triumph with that of the nation.
Over my cold dead body, will I give up my mouse, my remote, my couch and my inactivites!
Don’t worry, the global government has plenty of physical activity for all of us in the “re-education” camps.
Cut the food stamp allotments in half. That should take care of the problem.
That is quite a jump from the questionable Lancet report of “physical inactivity kills 5 million a year’ to call for the need for global action.
What would be their next target? “Drink 5 gallons of water daily” or some such rot?
It’s either tax us into action or send Richard Simmons......
States (not feds) should mandate Physical Education in every school. It once was.
When a kid graduates from HS, it would be great if they were proficient in at least one individual sport; tennis, golf, running, etc.
This is nuts! If Congress ever passes such a law, SCOTUS will immediately strike it... er, never mind.
There is enough logic in that post to make an OWSer’s head explode.
And John Roberts', too:)
