A young couple who'd recently moved from New Mexico and were attending the Aurora, Colo., midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" with their children said they had planned to sit in the front row by the exit in which a gunman entered and allegedly killed at least 12 people.
"Where the gunman came in, we were going to sit right there," Jamie Rohrs, 25, told ABC News today. "God was definitely with us and watching over us."
Rohrs said that before the movie started, he and his fiancee, Patricia Legarreta, also 25, opted for seats in the second-floor balcony. Rohrs held their 4-month-old son, Ethan, while Legarreta sat next to her 4-year-old daughter, Azeria, who was asleep with her head in her mother's lap.
Fifteen minutes into the movie, Legarreta said, someone walked into the theater from the exit and threw something. Police now allege that James Holmes, 24, burst into the movie house and started shooting patrons, killing at least 12 and injuring at least 50.

"I'm just disoriented after I put him down," Rohrs said. "I'm just waiting for me to hit the ground and fall down dead. You could see the gunfire."
He said he wondered where Ethan was but realized he could not go back to get him. Rohrs finally jumped over the balcony and ended up outside.
"My son's still in there," he told ABC News. "My girlfriend is still in there. I'm out here. Who leaves their child there?"
He said Legarreta called him from another phone and he drove back to the theater. They were eventually taken to the hospital and released.
In an interview with ABC News, Legaretta said she just ran as fast as she could with the baby and her daughter when the gunshots stopped.

Being a parent means doing without. Stuff like movies when you have babies. You just don’t go. What makes any adult even think about having babies in a movie theater at midnight???????

And why were there so many young children at a movie theater at 12:30 in the morning?
When my 16 year-old son was around four, maybe almost five, we brought him to see Toy Story 2 (or some other Pixar movie) in the afternoon (!), and we had a two or three-month old daughter. The minute the movie / previews came on, I realized it was way too loud for her. I tried covering her ears briefly, but it wasn’t going to work. So I spent the movie in the lobby/car.
This woman should find someone else who won’t abandon them when the chips are down—and get a BABYSITTER the next time you want to see a midnight movie.
Our local cinema has “Mommy and me” movies on Tuesdays at 11 am. It’s stroller and nursing-friendly, the sound is lowered, and it’s not held when little ones should be asleep.

As soon as I heard about there being any young children at this midnight showing of a PG-13 movie, I had the very same thoughts. You'll fork over $xx for your tickets but, you won't (pass up the snack bar to) pay a babysitter?
Although I voiced said thoughts to my wife (who agreed wholeheartedly), I wouldn't dare post them anywhere but here, lest I be accused of being overly judgmental and/or blaming the (selfish) parents of the young victims. Used to be, parents sacrificed and set aside childish ways for their kids' sake.
At any rate, I'm sure at least a few of those parents are re-thinking their selfish choices.

Somebody should slap the shit out of them and remind them that they are parents now and the thing they need to do is stay home at night so their children can go to bed at a decent hour. Going out should be limited to taking the children to the park during the day. If they don’t want to be parents then they should put the children up for adoption. These babies deserve better. Really, really tees me off!!!

Adulthood doesn’t come when you hit a certain age. We have a lot of people well over the age we used to think signified coming of age who are really just large children. The most amazing thing about this article is the guy appears to have no qualms admitting all of this. No one is ashamed of anything anymore.
And from his comments in the article is was all about ‘me me me me’ and him worried about dying. He needs to be slapped HARD and repeatedly.
Not only were children out that late, but the movie is reportedly chock-full, end-to-end, with bloody, gory violence. Just peachy.
Same kind of selfish parents who have kids without being married.
Which of course means that anyone who watches instantly turns into a mass-murderer.
