War On Terror: As the regime of Bashar Assad disintegrates, the security of his chemical arsenal is in jeopardy. The No. 2 general in Saddam Hussein's air force says they were the WMDs we didn't find in Iraq.
King Abdullah of neighboring Jordan warned that a disintegrating Syria on the verge of civil war puts Syria's stockpile of chemical weapons at risk of falling into the hands of al-Qaida.
"One of the worst-case scenarios as we are obviously trying to look for a political solution would be if some of those chemical stockpiles were to fall into unfriendly hands," he said.
The irony here is that the chemical weapons stockpile of Syrian thug Assad may in large part be the legacy of weapons moved from Hussein's Iraq into Syria before Operation Iraqi Freedom.
If so, this may be the reason not much was found in the way of WMD by victorious U.S. forces in 2003.
In 2006, former Iraqi general Georges Sada, second in command of the Iraqi Air Force who served under Saddam Hussein before he defected, wrote a comprehensive book, "Saddam's Secrets."
It details how the Iraqi Revolutionary Guard moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria in advance of the U.S.-led action to eliminate Hussein's WMD threat.
As Sada told the New York Sun, two Iraqi Airways Boeings were converted to cargo planes by removing the seats, and special Republican Guard units loaded the planes with chemical weapons materials.

Bush's fault???
Bush was right ping
It’s about time someone recognized this

I wouldn't count on liberals ever admitting that Sadam’s WMDs went to Syria. Being a liberal means being impervious to evidence.
I continue to “credit” the various “reports”, pre -invasion, of Russian military escorts of equipment convoys into Syria.
Poor Putin!
He now has to hope either the Israelis in 2007, or at some point in the interim, the Dentist managed to destroy his entire secret stash...and that Assad brushed his teeth and flossed thoroughly before he fleeing Damascus.
After the reception Hillary recently received from the unpaid crowds of angry Syrian civilians, I sincerely doubt the rebel leaders are willing and/or capable of keeping such dangerous secrets, secret anymore.
All my liberal friends told me there were no WMDs.
I guess we’ll find out (sooner than anyone likes) if they were right....
The WMD were smuggled into Syria from Iraq and buried in the sand. There was one video report of a UN delegation driving up to a weapons facility and some poor Iraqi jumping into the vehicle with a notebook. He held his head down, but was talking in his language, which the UN people had never managed to learn.
They couldn’t get him out of the vehicle at first, but they manhandled him out of there and left him at the facility in Iraq which the UN people had inspected and found nothing.
My money says he was dead in a matter of minutes after the pale blue hats drove through the gate and his notebook was turned to ashes.
The WMD had been sought by the Taliban, but lo and behold, they already had some that were lifted prior to November 29, 1990 at a prominent Midwestern university. The research facility and teaching rooms had used a Section 18 to procure a chemical that was not licensed to decontaminate a high containment area from June of 1992 to 9-11-2001.
Due to the ineptness of the post office, the lack of security at the university and the general belief that these foreign students are just here to study, there was a package delivered to an innocent family. Two of the members contracted lesions that were not characteristic of a WMD, but of the WMD that were mailed after 9-11-2001.
About time this gets attention!!!! I hope every left-wing news media chokes on this news when it is proven (not that it already hasn’t been) but it would be nice to have photos of the stockpile with “made in Baghdad labels”. And I think we will in time.
George Bush's fault. :)
I wonder if Amadinejad ever feels like giving Bush a medal in reward for his valuable services in behalf of Iran.
AND.... they belong to Russia. Iraq had not finished paying for them, and the Ruskies didn’t want ‘proof’ they had sold these to Iraq to exist, so they took them to Syria for safe storage when Iraq was overrun by ‘coalition’ troops. Several of us saw them doing it. A ‘diplomat’ in a convoy was stopped and the Russians made a real stink about.
NOW, they are no longer safe in Syria. Too much civil violence and unrest. Russia is moving them to a new ‘undisclosed’ location.

No they weren't. They were taken to a very extensive, and heavily fortified, underground storage facility, specially made for biological and nuclear weapons. We watched them take convoys of trucks in. Some material was flown in on planes. The Russians wanted the stuff hidden safely, not thrown into the sand.
More like "made in Russia".
