Nearly 500,000 eligible voters in 10 states with restrictive voter ID laws live in households without vehicles and reside at least 10 miles from an ID-issuing office open more than two days a week, a new Brennan Center for Justice study found. Because many of these voters may not have drivers licenses and nearly all live in rural areas with dwindling public transportation options it could be significantly harder for them to get an ID and cast a ballot. The report undercuts the claim by many politicians that eligible voters can easily obtain a free ID to vote. In Texas, in 32 counties near the Mexico border (pictured above), there are 80,000 Hispanic eligible voters but only two ID-issuing offices open more than two days a week. The same ID that they use to buy that bottle of cheap gin.
Oh, my. What a sob story. I’m going to cry myself to sleep. Then sleep soundly knowing that illegal aliens, felons, dead people and union thugs will not be stealing 500,000 votes they would have otherwise stolen.
Duh, I don’t have a drivers license. don’t even own a car. I do have a picture ID. Really don’t even need that, cause I am so old that they do not ask for it when I purchase adult beverages.
I really don’t care if they ask me for one at the polls, what do I have to hide?
You just go down and get one. Of course, in Illinois you pay up the butt for one, because the fascists are in charge (located in Chicago, mostly). If you are too stupid to be able to acquire a picture ID, You are either not an American citizen, or you are too stupid to be allowed to vote.

These poor people! How do they get to the polls? How do they shop? We need better public transportation for them, and automatic absentee ballots (I bet the rate of absentee ballots in these areas is low).
They need food delivery!
Of course, all but 2 or 3 of them already have an acceptable ID because they need ID for just about everything from buying booze to getting on an airplane.
Seems they had whatever id they needed to get their handouts, and probably didn’t mind how far the office was to sign up. Why is it such a big deal to do the same to vote if it’s that important that their vote counts.
I forgot, to get my ID, I had to show my birth certificate.
No problem. I have had one in my possession for the last 40 years or so.

The Brennan Justice has always been rabidly anti-voter ID. If you go to their site you will find paper after paper against voter ID or any other attempt to fight vote fraud. When working on the petition drive to get a Voter ID inititive on the ballot I read many of these,( Brennan Justice Center is located at NYU )one of these I thought made my case FOR Voter ID, the last line of the paper said”Voter ID only makes a difference in the close elections anyway”
You forgot the Zombies.
Total Garbage....BS ...bet they have ID when buying smokes and booze! Oh gotta have an ID to vote, yet none of them complained when ID was required for entry to NAACP.
Trust me if anyone was walking to their polling place because they didn't have a car or bus service or a friend to take them, the New York Times would run their story on page one... Maybe like the idiot the AP covered who flew to Washington DC to tell her tale of woe - about how she was unable to get to a place that could give her a photo ID ... Only a member of the press would fall for the crap - given that she found her way FROM TEXAS to DC without a problem... But who knows, the New York Times is hungry for something - anything - to back up this liberal fantasy... maybe the girl can fly back to DC and try one more time.
Oh, please!
Promise freebies with a photo ID. Doesn’t matter what the freebies are. These same “poor, disenfranchised” folks will show up with IDs and shopping carts!
You want to get the libs stuttering and stammering about ID needed to vote because voting is a right - I love to use it, and do regularly.
I tell them I agree it is a right and I will be more than happy to support their cause of no ID for voting because it is a right as soon as they sign on with me that no ID needs be shown to purchase a firearm, because that is also a right.............
Stick with rights - if they want to stick with rights.
Well I guess none of these poor souls will ever be able to attend an 0bama fundraiser.
Probably a bunch of crap. When the State Attorney General argued the Voter ID case in Federal Court, he showed the statistics provided by Eric the Corrupt were fictitious and should have caused Eric to be held in contempt of court. The State Attorney General had students from UT actually call the people submitted on the list by Eric that were supposed to have not photo ID. They found less than 10% of the people claimed they did not have photo Id. Included on Eric’s list of people not having photo Id were G W Bush, Mickey Mouse, etc. The list was fraudulent from the get go. The photo Id requirement will prevail, but Eric is doing his drag-it-through-the-courts game, even though he will lose at the Supreme Court.
AMEN! Say it again!
