He outlined five main tenets of the Second Bill of Rights, which would include the “right to full employment and a living wage”; the “right to full participation in the electoral process”; the “right to a quality education”; the “right to a voice at work” and the “right to a secure and healthy future.”

The idea of a Second Bill of Rights was inspired by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 1944 State of the Union address, which called for greater “economic rights” including employment through a living wage, collective bargaining, housing, education, medical care, among many things.

20 years ago this would have been a humorous story in the Onion.

Commies are out in full bloom this 2012 drought.

The Bill of Rights is NOT a laundry list of what government can GIVE you.

The Bill of Rights is a LIMIT of the POWER of government.

Socialists never can understand this.

“... and protection against old age,...” ?

Not to wish him any bad luck, but I hope he gets his wish on that one and never has to be bothered with old age.

“Trumka says Big Labor intends to push both the Democratic Party and the GOP...”

###

Personally, I intened to continue to push BACK against Unions.

No dead-assed, attitude-loaded Union labor is allowed to set foot on my home or businesses properties.

A government that you give the power to grant everything you want WILL take everything you have, starting with your freedom and ending with your life.

Trumpka knows this. In fact, the power to do that is exactly what he wants.

Either that, or he’s incredibly stupid.

I believe second one in his list is ‘the right to vote.’ Lots of 'free stuff' in that bill

I had a Democrat here tell me he thinks EVERYONE in the country, legal or illegal, citizen or non-citizen, criminal or law-biding has the right to vote here. He said he doesnt believe in voter regulations (those must be the only regulations he disagrees with) and he said the country will be better off if everyone here, or the most number, votes.

Most of you know I feel the opposite of that, that too many of the wrong people vote and I don't just mean Democrats, although they are high on my list.

Too much voting for 'free stuff'.

Just because Mr. Trumka fancies himself a political figure, doesn't make him one. It's time the threads that weave unions and politicians together get cut, no matter how difficult or painful it may be.

the "right to full employment and a living wage";

This will lead to the violation of the rights of and the enslavement of business owners who are the ones who hire the workers and pay their wages.

Why exactly do the American people (as a whole) “deserve” any of these things? From what I’ve seen, there are plenty of Americans who barely deserve their citizenship.

Americans have a “right” to full employment, housing, health care, collective bargaining and protection against old age, sickness and unemployment, according to AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka.

Well, back in the 19th century, slaves had most of these things.

Union terrorism shall be punishable by death or exile.

Unions shall be treated like any other employment agency with fees received for services from members treated by the IRS as ordinary income.

Employers shall be allowed to sue union employees for damages for work stoppages or slow downs that can be shown to be at the direction of union leaders. Companies must be given a 180 day notice before a strike.

Fees received by political campaigns from unions shall be treated the same as those from any other corporate entity.

We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid any more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior and secure the blessings of debt free liberty to ourselves and our great great-great grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt-ridden, delusional, and other liberal pinko commie bed-wetters.

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That a whole lot of people were confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim that they require a Bill of No Rights.

ARTICLE I — You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV or any form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II — You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means the freedom for everyone, not just you! You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc., but the world is full of idiots and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III — You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful. Do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV — You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generations of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.

ARTICLE V — You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice but, from the looks of public housing, we’re just not interested in government run health care.

ARTICLE VI — You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim or kill someone, don’t be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII — You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don’t be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won’t have the right to a big screen TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII — You don’t have the right to demand that our children risk their lives in foreign wars to soothe your aching conscience. We hate oppressive governments and won’t lift a finger to stop you from going to fight, if you’d like. However, we do not enjoy parenting the entire world and do not want to spend so much of our time battling each and every little tyrant with a military uniform and a funny hat.

ARTICLE IX — You don’t have the right to a job. All of us sure want all of you to have one, and will gladly help you in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful.

ARTICLE X — You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to pursue happiness — which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered (unhindered, unchallenged) by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
