LGBT advocacy groups are continuing to pressure Boy Scouts of America, which applies a dont ask, dont tell policy on sexual orientation of its youth members and its adult leaders.
This morning, a press release from change.org landed in our in-box announcing that Jennifer Tyrrell, a gay mom who was removed as a den leader by the Boy Scouts of America, will deliver 300,000 petition signatures to the Boy Scouts of Americas national headquarters. The petition calls on the Scouts to reinstate her and end their policy prohibiting gay scouts and scout leaders.
Deron Smith, a Boy Scout spokesman, said this morning that that plan is puzzling because the gay and lesbian groups already presented their petition to the Boy Scouts during an annual Scout meeting in Orlando in May.
Its the same exact petitions as far as I know, Smith said.
. . .
Tyrrells campaign recently convinced another Boy Scout board member, Ernst & Young Chairman and CEO James Turley, to publicly oppose the organizations ban on gay scouts and leaders. Turley announced last month that he intends to work from within the Boy Scouts of America Board to actively encourage dialogue and sustainable progress on ending the ban on gay scouts and gay scout leaders. Tyrrell has also collected more than 75,000 signatures on a petition to AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, rumored to become the President-elect of the Boy Scouts of America Board of Directors. AT&T is also headquartered in Dallas.
Tyrrells campaign has earned the support of numerous celebrities as well, including Julianne Moore, Benicio Del Toro, Josh Hutcherson, Ricky Martin and others, and Tyrrell has been featured at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles and San Francisco for her work to end the Boy Scouts ban on gay scouts and scout leaders.

Scout ping.
More homo nonsense...
BSA is on my donate list every year,
why dont the libs just create their own GSA and LSA (Gay/Lesbian Scouts of America) instead of ruining a great institution that helps boys become responsible men??
Fing libs! Won’t hear Republicans talking about this either, too scared.
If the BSA “caves”, it’s dead.
Which is all part of the plan anyway.
The BSA is one of the last nationally recognized bastions teaching and instilling positive values and morals to young men.
In a queer’s mind, it needs to be destroyed, it is the antithesis to queerdom, liberalism and godlessness.
Unfortunately, that is the study by Mark Regnerus. The gay advocates had a hissy fit, and now the University of Texas is investigating Regnerus for misconduct with the study, and for receiving funds from anti-gay groups:
“U. of Texas Investigating Mark Regnerus for Scientific Misconduct Over Flawed, Anti-Gay Parenting ‘Study’”
Change.org “petitions” are meaningless. You can “sign” 10,000 times in a row from the same PC if you wish. Try it. Can’t do it on a site like GoPetitions, which blocks repeat emails addresses and IP addresses.
Agreed, caving = death, which is the goal. Notice how as others have said, they are fully free to form their own Gay Scouts association. But no, they seek to infiltrate and change the rooted, traditional one. I hope the BSA do not waver on this.
I know, which is why I hope BSA stand their ground here.
Last I heard - right now this is a non-starter with the BSA. I figure they are going to keep it that way for the time being. I’m a Scout Master - and likely will quite the organization. If they are willing to change their values on this - then they are willing to devalue other aspects of the organization too, like the Eagle award.
Importantly, if you give to the BSA, give directly to them, and not through an umbrella organization like the United Way, which is now giving to a lot of questionable causes.
I have never seen arguments over the advantages of giving to the national organization, the local council, or both. I can well imagine that the local councils vary tremendously in both character and the personalities involved.
It would probably serve the national well, were they to create a separate, legal branch, to take on those that attack the BSA. When Pat Robertson did this by creating the American Center for Law and Justice, it became hugely successful, fighting “brush fire” attacks and judicial activism all over the US, and usually winning.
This study is the most thorough and comprehensive study of it's kind. The facts counter the 'just a normal lifestyle' arguments of the past few decades.
It is actually a shame that we have to have a debate about how kids raised by their two biological parents have the best chance of survival.
I don’t think they will.
There’s way too much money coming in from church sponsored/affiliated Troops, who do have a lot of influence.
Liberalism is a deadly, infectious disease. It ultimately destroys anything that is good.
I loathe and despise liberalism, thus, I loathe and despise liberals.
A friend scoutleader told me that about a decade ago.
Another reason to avoid middle organizations like UW is like the feds they a non-profit have a huge very costly administration that eats up the money, and they cant tell you exactly how much of your donation gets to the real charity.
I always try to explain this to kids out of college who are taught that non-profits are more efficient than profits.
SM here as well.
They would have to redefine the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.
If the BSA did cave on this, our Troop would probably fold. In addition to the many church sponsored/affiliated Troops as well.
I will not endorse, support or participate in any organization that allows Scouts to become prey for queers.
I’m glad our son is on the cusp of earning his Eagle Award. Just completed his Eagle project, 2 MB’s and BoR left.
P.S. I saw in another thread you were at EB this summer. Which week? Our Troop went there week 4. Took lots of pics of the USS Iowa on the way out.
Good for the Boy Scouts standing their ground. The LBGT’s can **** off as far as I am concerned.
Yes, it is a shame, and a commentary on our era, that common sense would be hailed as a shocking and possibly flawed study!
Let the LGBTetc start their own scouting-type organization. Then let the kids and their parents decide where they want to go. I’m confident in the result.
The Scouts won’t be safe until they kick-out those corporate executive board members who are supporting gay scouting.
BSA is a private institution. If they don’t want the deviants around the kids, that’s their prerogative and their right.
“...ruining a great institution that helps boys become responsible men...”
You just hit the nail on the head, right there. Ruining another American institution, intentionally.
