Does it look like this thing has legs?

It has some potential to backfire.

We conservatives have recognized the war on the private sector that liberals have been waging for some time. Independents and political apathetics, many of whom are employed in the private sector, have been sensing something was awry, but weren't sure about what was going on.

To malign employers, entrepreneurs, and investors in such a clear, direct way may have the effect of turning off EMPLOYEES, many of whom are watching their bosses fight like mad to hold on to their businesses, and thus, their jobs.

The war on the private sector just became more overt with this statement. Obama's envy and animosity toward capitalism just became more apparent.

"You didn't build it", and "The private sector's doing just fine" can be combined in a formidable ad campaign designed to expose Obama's ignorance of and hostility to capitalism to those who are just now beginning to grasp how damaging to American prosperity the Obama policies have become.

Business is successful in spite of government. Business has to pay more taxes, meet more standards, fill more paperwork, submit to more inspections, prove more compliance, and have more lawyers on hand just in case some involvement with the government (Federal / state / county / town levels) doesn’t go well than anyone on welfare could even begin to cope with. If Great Leader is talkin about infrastructure he’d should find another topic because without business the government would be unable to afford infrastructure. Let Atlas shrug for a year and watch what happens. Great Leader is talking National Socialism and it’s becoming less subtle with each passing week.
