Gee whiz, it was just Palin being her typical self, being generically upbeat and positive about a fellow Republican... and then using this as a springboard to slam Obama. A few moments later she made it pretty clear she strongly wanted a pro-life ticket.

Condi is not much more than a female Colin Powell and she gives Palestinians way too much leeway in negotiations.

It would be a brilliant move. It would gather Romney enough black and women voters to offset the conservatives like me that would rather vote third party than for him.

“Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the last GOP running mate, predicted former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would make a “wonderful” vice president for Mitt Romney.”

Mrs. Palin: please present concrete evidence to back up your statement. A general “rah, rah” is insufficient for conservatives who have been burnt way too many times.

Sarah Palin is being diplomatic here and trying not to cause fissure in the GOP at this point in the campaign.

Condoleezza Rice is a diplomat, not a politician. As a diplomat she is more dedicated to compromise rather than conservative problem-solving.

If Romney picks her, this could be Dole / Kemp, the sequel.

Is this a promise or just a greasy politician leaving wiggle room?

Moderator: Gov. Romney, will the person you chose as your vice presidential running mate be someone who shares your pro-life and pro-marriage convictions?

Romney: I certainly imagine so, I haven’t made and selections in that regard … [as I look around at the people I would consider] I would expect that they would all be pro-life and pro-traditional marriage … but this is an important enough issue that the person that I would select in that position would share my views on those important issues.

The VP will likely be Susana Martinez...
Or it will be Brian Sandoval

I have no idea who the VP will be but I do believe it won’t be Rice.
There are always floating of names much of which I believe is to
keep things in a turmoil while the decision is being made.

Heck remember 2008 and McCain’s rumored VP picks which included:
Crist, Ridge, Jindal, Sanford, Romney, Huckabee, etc before he finally
picked Palin.

“She’s super qualified, but I don’t think she’s solidly in the Conservative camp. I never have felt she was.”

“It’s just a visceral feeling I have in my gut that minority candidates (any minority) have to strive twice as hard and demonstrate twice as commitment, if they want to pass for Conservatives.”

What ARE her qualifications? I think you’re putting the cart before the horse. The first choice is conservative! Everything else is an accessory (like a pair of gloves). If he picks her it will be viewed as shameless pandering.

Roger that thoughtful analysis.

As opposed to the spastic, mindless, knee jerk reactions to all things Condi Rice and many things Sarah Palin.

Wasn’t Mitt going to be at a fundraiser last night at Dick Cheney’s Wyoming compound? I think Cheney would share his feelings with Mitt about this Condi for VP balloon.

She’s a strong woman who will stand up to anyone, and she is incredibly smart, I think. As to her conservative bona fides, I’m not at all confident she is a conservative.

I hope this is just a balloon to pucker the faces of the MSM. We have plenty of strong, intelligent, well spoken conservatives, male, female, white, black, brown... to choose from.

Hopefully Sarah was trying not to rock the boat, believing that Condi won’t be the pick. While it is true that Rice is more qualified than Obama, she is a liberal. Picking her would disgust me and most conservatives who value principle over party. The GOP needs to break from the Bushes—no Condi, Jeb, or George P. I just wish that someone would stand up and say “I’m a pro-life, pro-family, tax cutting, freedom loving, small government conservative,” and mean it.

‘and she certainly has much more experience than our sitting president does today,” Palin said...’

Baboooom! Talk about a major slap at Zero! I will certainly disagree with Sarah about a Rice-a-Romney ticket but she might have said that just to make a truthful point about Zero when comparing him to Rice.

Don’t know if the Leftists will gnash their teeth on that one but I hope they do!

Oh the outrage!

And they will.

WTF?!? Didn't Condi Rice vote for obama? (In other words, she voted against McLame/Palin '08.) Voting for obama is an automatic disqualification!

Yes, she did, which really diminished her in my eyes. I thought she was a REPUBLICAN. She voted based entirely on skin color, because I can't believe she thought he was qualified. That is WEAK, in my opinion, and I thought she was better than that. She could have really made some head way with conservatives/independents etc., if she had stood her ground and taken on the race baiters. She took the easy way.

But it might be the first time a VP candidate votes for the opposition presidential candidate.

For all the ABR’s - why do you care who mittens picks since you are not voting for him anyway?

Maybe everyone is just afraid to say that Condi is very pro-choice, but only for democrats. Then again people keep letting the left use the terms pro-life and pro-choice instead of anti-abortion and abortionists.

Romney isn’t going to choose West because West acts more more presidential with just a few spoken words than Romney does with a one hour campaign speech.

I am now in the ABO camp. The good news is that I do believe this is a trial balloon and nothing more.

Condi Rice is a believer in the Church of Globull Warming.

FLASHBACK: Rice laments Bush rejection of Kyoto-Rice believes not ‘promising’ to seek alternatives to Kyoto was a ‘self-inflicted’ wound.

So I say NO to Rice, she is just another RINO or dare I say she is being given consideration for an affirmative action reason. Very Obama-ish.
