A recently added minor at the University of Lafayette is causing quite a controversy. Last semester UL became the first university in Louisiana to offer a minor in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender studies.

Today, Congressman Jeff Landry came out in opposition towards the program.

In a letter addressed to UL's President, Dr. Joseph Savoie, Landry request that the university eliminate the new program. As a proud alumnus, Landry says he been so grateful of the education he received at UL, but he is concerned if future graduates will be able say the same.

Yes, academia needs to stop with all this “flavor of the month” studies: So many universities now have “gay studies” not to mention women’s studies, African American studies-—it has become a hodge podge of political correctness which is making a mockery of the academy.

Is this a land grant University? If so, it’s time to invoke Morrill’s purposes for the Federal land grant.

1. Economic growth.
2. Economic growth.
3. Economic growth.

For 50 points, write a short essay of less than 100 words addressing how LGBT studies will increase the economic growth of the great state of Louisiana.

Unfortunately, in today’s climate, I am afraid it WILL help them get jobs with Google, Starbuck’s, Home Depot, and hundreds of other corporations as well as public schools and universities. I can just see job titles such as : “Administrator of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Human Resource Project Coordinator” or “Gay Sales Marketing Director” and “Sensitivity and Awareness Training Seminar Coordinator for LGBT awareness issues”.

You don't get it, This is a jobs program for idiots professors paid for by the taxpayer in this Louisiana State University.  The private sector producing class paying for public sector parasites. Gay parasites in this case.

Here in the New York City area some graduate departments have opened entire centers to these studies. Of course, the South has always been the preserver of conservative values, so Congressman Landry is acting as a good southern gentleman. For up here, I can only hope such goes out of style. There is such a push to "queer this" and "queer that" - queering the church, queering elementary education, even - it is likely creating a bunch of silly administrator positions unless Providence puts an end to it. - I am afraid Academia is simply not what it used to be . . . and that's an understatement.

Yep, the way the world is, we’re supposed to be liberal.

The liberal view is that this is a great leap forward in education.

And the liberal view is also that, anyone opposed, by definition, hates homosexuals. And that alleged hatred means that anyone opposed must be destroyed.

Right, destroyed or rehabilitated via one of their “queering the campus” or “queering the workplace” programs.

Good luck in the job hunt!

Especially since Bawny Frank retired from Congress, there are fewer openings now for Congressional Pages.
