Triple-digit temperatures expected to feel as hot as 110 degrees have prompted excessive heat warnings across the D.C. area on Saturday and could threaten all-time highs.
The day continued a trend in the area that hasn

D.C. has always been hotter than the hinges of Hades during the summer months.
My first car was a 1956 Volkswagen with a cloth sunroof. Opened that up on a hot July day on Pennsylvania Ave and never opened it again except at night.
What’s with all the TV “weather emergencies” anyway? Like this never happened before? Sheesh.....

Has anyone mentioned the connection between the weather and the Roberts decision being the Wrath of God on DC? Just wondering!!!

The heat finally broke about 8:00 tonight and it was like a weight being lifted. Even my dogs were out dancing in the yard.
We’ve got 77 degrees now and expecting another 10 degree drop by morning.

I'm in a Memphis suburb of Northern Mississippi now, but grew up for 46 years in a DC suburb...Been hot there before...be hot again. My bet it will be cool this Autumn and damned cold this winter.
That said, I work M-F in an A/C'ed office...or drive in my AC controlled car. On the weekends I work in my garage. Been triple digits here I think since Christmas.
I tie a cotton rag around my head which stops sweat from getting on my face and in my eyes, and once sweat starts to soak my clothes I actually get a chill from time to time.

I’ve thought of the Wrath of God possibility, with said Wrath being poured out on liberals and conservatives alike as Divine Vengeance for the smug John Roberts’ ruling on Obamacare.

Given a choice between Divine Vengeance and Global Warming, I would choose Divine Vengeance.

Hi, Sandy -
You certainly have more heat out there than we do here - I have been to Phoenix in July. I don't think you have the humidity that we do but the temps out there are enough.
This degree of heat is very unusual for us in this area. We usually top out in the mid-90's - triple digits are rare for us. At this hour, we're down to 85 degrees, but the humidity is 64%. For an old, asthmatic geezer like me, this is tough to take. Luckily, we did not lose power as a result of the storm last Friday night. There are many here with power still out. The Boy Governor made a total fool of himself blaming the power company for not restoring power quickly enough. BGE had significant damage to its sub-stations and heavy transmission lines.
As I mentioned, we are extremely lucky we did not lose power. I was a heat casualty in 'Nam and I would have had to go to a cooling center or ER had we lost power. I look forward to Monday or Tuesday when we slip back down into the mid 80's - a piece of cake, even for me. In the meantime, I gladly cede to you the distinction of living in America's blast oven.
Hope things are going well with you - I've been out of touch lately due to heavy hours at work. I thought I heard something about a new grandchild - congratulations to you and the proud parents!

Humidity makes all the difference. Was 100 here today with 25% hum. Wasn’t to bad. About a week ago it was 88 with 55% hum. That was worse.

Watch the riots begin. It wouldnt surprise me a bit. They cant take the heat like the rest of us.
You mean like the D.C. riots during the 1930’s heat wave? Oh, wait. There weren’t any riots.

Didn’t Congress used to RECESS every summer, BECAUSE of the HEAT????? Wish they still would...

“hasnt seen high temperatures lower than 95 degrees since the month began.”
To those who have never lived in the DC area, mock all you want. But those are miserable temps., global warming or not. I feel sorry for the Sentinels at the Tomb of The Unknown Soldier. Their dark blue uniforms soak up the heat like a sponge.
To: SandRat
Yawn....... Welcome to Phoenix temps in the summer every year.
And unlike the DC area, not very humid I would imagine.
