In a sign that Mitt Romney's campaign team plans to adjust following growing criticism from fellow Republicans, CBS News has learned that Romney campaign senior adviser Kevin Madden will soon be taking on a larger and more visible role within the campaign.
Sources tell CBS News that Madden will be spending more time on the road with Romney and is likely to become a more public presence as a TV spokesperson for the candidate. He will hit the road with Romney next week, following Romney's New Hampshire vacation.
This move to make Madden a more public face of the campaign comes a week after fellow senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom committed a messaging misstep, which resulted in Romney having to walk back those comments.

Poor Obama supporters. I bet it really ticks you off that Obama has to fight for his reelection. We all know you guys would much prefer to have Obama be appointed king. That way you crypto-liberals could revel in your utopian socialist paradise you secretly lust after.
It’s funny to see all of the Romneybots around here quoting Scripture in their weak attempt to justify the scumbag behavior of Mitt and his winged monkeys.
You and I as well as most conservatives here know that Team Romney is afraid of Palin, afraid of the TEA Parties and afraid of conservatives and conservative beliefs.
The Romney apologists on the other hand think that Romney’s bashing of conservatives is old news and that we should forget about it. Only problem is that Romney is still doing it and the apologists don’t care. Romney will continue trashing conservatives for the rest of his time in public life because he hates us. The “severe conservative” socialist hates everything conservative and he’s scared to death of Palin.
Flashback:
Swampland: Top 10 Dirty Political Tricks
Team Romney knows a thing or two about playing dirty. In 2007, Romneys political consultant, Wesley Donehue, was discovered as the anonymous culprit behind the website Phony Fred. The site attacked GOP candidate and former TV star Fred Thompson with unflattering photos and taunting names like Flip-Flop Fred, Moron Fred and Fancy Fred. Under one heading that read Playboy Fred, the site posted the question: Once a pro-choice skirt chaser, now standard bearer of the religious right? PhonyFred.org was quickly removed once reporters from The Washington Post began investigating the site. Thompsons spokesman, Todd Harris, condemned the trickery saying, There is no room in our party for this kind of smut.
keep focusing on congress
keep focusing on congress
A supermajority in congress then we can neutralize the rino.
Absolutely on the mark! I'm not going to select one turd because it smells a little less than the other. Both men will be disasters over the next four years - our nation needs help. A Tea-Party-dominated Congress would oppose Obama but is likely to roll over for Romney who would likely accomplish more of the progressive agenda than Obama. Anyone who thinks that a Republican Congress would reign in Romney is dreaming.
Unfortunately, too many people don't realize that they are helping Romney fulfill the dream of his father: destroy the conservative movement.
Thanks for spreading some sense. Palin is focusing on helping conservatives win Congressional seats.
Media keeps baiting her with “when will you endorse Romney”, or “what will you do for Romney?” (but now that her nemeses are firmly emplanted in Mitt’s campaign, probably never)
So FReepers, instead of trashing the top of the ticket, MUST turn attention to Congress - our only hope, and really the way the Framers set it up. The Two parties have given us poor nominees for years (exception Reagan). Congress is the key. The check and the balance. Only Congress can reel in EPA, HHS Secretary, et al.
You don’t get it. How will it help us to defeat Obama in 2012 if we keep obsessing about what Palin went through in 2008?
She’s fine. She’s making bank.
It is a great idea to post it again and again since sooooo many here are still in denial as to the obviously despicable nature of Mittler.
These two actions are not, in any way, mutually exclusive. As a matter of fact, emphasizing the unsuitability of the Republican candidate makes the election of good Congresspeople all the more important - our main talking point for getting Tea Party types elected.
If getting Congresspeople elected is so important to you, why are you wasting time running interference for Romney? Follow your own advice.
Precisely, JP!
That's some concept of "Christianity" (and "productivity") you've got there and I sure am glad not to share it.
No, YOU don't get it! 2012 is LOST no matter who wins the election. I'm looking at 2016, and even 2020 at this point...
Because Congres can only BLOCK Judicial nominees. The President appoints them. We BOTH the the Executive branch (No More Holder) as well as Congress.
I am doing both. As is Palin (”ABO” - anyone but O)
If Obama is reelected we are starting on the 2 yard line. If Rommey is elected we are startling on th 50 yard line. .
Horse hockey. I’m no Marxist! And I’m not about to vote for a statist like Romney!!
On the contrary, you are living in a fantasy world. With Obama, it was "Hope and change." With Romney, it's "Hope he'll change."
We know how the first one worked out.
You can vote for the GOP version of the same -- just remember that if your bastard wins, you will GET WHAT YOU VOTED FOR.
Me, I'm voting to weaken whichever bastard wins, Romney or Obama. I'm voting for a popular vote plurality. I'm voting third party -- because unlike you, I understand that there is no such thing as voting "against" -- you can only vote FOR something. You're voting for more liberalism; I'm voting for putting liberalism on defense.
Thanks for the ping, elk.
We are losing our country to godless socialism and what does the GOP do? Run an abortionist/homosexualist statist for the presidency whose socialist RomneyCare program was the blueprint and impetus for ObamaCare! Screw the that!! I’ll vote for the GOP’s candidate for the presidency when they run a CONSERVATIVE!! Otherwise, to hell with them!!
