I would vote for a gay Darth Vader over Obama.
I would vote for Cheech and Chong over Obama.

I just hope FReepers will go back and take a long hard look at a string of part time posters who always seemed to be happy to stir anger between supporters of other candidates. They claimed to support everyone but Romney and accused everyone else of working for Romney.
Once Mitt was all that was left, they quickly conceded the horrible truth that Mitt will be the candidate and we should all get on board. Now they’ve quit posting for another 4 years.

He is so far above the threshold, the only vote will be a symbolic one, all the paperwork will have been completed before the first camera is turned on.

That was a unique situation. That was an open convention to begin with and there was no frontrunner leading up to it. In that convention, you had four candidates (including Harding) coming into the convention with nobody having near the amount of pledged delegates to secure the nomination.
It would be as if Gingrich, Santorum, Romney and Ron Paul had more or less an equal amount of delegates in the primaries, none of them attaining even close to the amount needed.
In 2012, Mitt Romney clearly has more than enough delegates to win the nomination on the first ballot. Further, it is also clear that the apparatus of the GOP is fully behind Romney. Adequate money is being raised and while voter enthusiasm for Romney may not be ideal, he is clearly the man the GOP is going to run.
In case I haven't made myself clear, there is virtually ZERO chance of a brokered or an open convention. Hate to be a killjoy but there will be no "Ronald Reagan" riding to the rescue. Nor will Sarah Palin be popping out of a giant cake on the convention floor (as much as I'd like to see it) to wrest the nomination out of Romney's grasp.
Former candidates always “support” the eventual nominee and I’ve always said they would.
However I gave up on caring what the cool kids think about the time I got out of middle school.
Almost anyone would be better than Obama. A former Governor of a state at very least.
Another waste of bandwidth.
The objective is to stop the destruction of what is left of the Republic.
That means dumping Obama.
That means electing the candidate who is not Obama.
Mitt Romney is not yet the Republican candidate. No one is at this point in time. After the convention in Tampa we will have a candidate.
Get that through your head.
In politics anything can happen. It did in 1920.

Romney isn’t being “pushed on us by the GOP.” He clinched the nomination because because stronger candidates from the party’s conservative wing stayed out of the race, giving him a field of weak opponents which, given his name recognition, organization and money, he easily bested.
You can’t be serious.
You have two choices, Barry or Mitt.
That’s it. Live with it.
It’s like choosing to veer into the ditch versus a head-on collision.
Personally, I’ll take the ditch.
