One of the watermelons rotted on the vine and one on the same vine got end blossom rot,

Sorry to hear that. Have you grown them before? I am trying to grow cantaloupe for the first time this year, but they don't look as vigorous as the spaghetti squash, and zucchini I've grown before.

Thanks for the salsa recipes ladies. Did I remember to thank you for the zucchini recipe SG? *blush* I hope so, but if not Thank You.

8 heirloom tomato plants were munched down to the ground this week so far... Zombie Groundhog George...the dreaded ZGG attacks again.

Actually, this would be the first time that I’ve successfully grown watermelon. The cantaloupes look great. It takes those little guys a while to mature. There are 5 Jubilee watermelons that look healthy. Only one has the evidence of end blossom rot.
When we had an overabundance of cantaloupes and honeydews in the desert, we’d toss the melon in the blender with some superfine sugar and creme de menthe (sp?) I don’t remember that summer too well, but I remember the smoothies.
