Gov. Chris Christie called a reporter an "idiot" this afternoon during a press conference to discuss the water emergency in Monmouth County. Although reporters were told that Christie would only be answering questions about Friday's collapse of three large water pipes at NJ American Waters treatment plant at Swimming River Reservoir and the subsequent boil water alert in 22 towns, one journalist tried to ask about the special joint session of the Legislature that the governor has called for Monday. When the reporter said, "Governor, on Monday are you going to be addressing the legislature," Christie interrupted and replied, "Did I say on topic? Are you stupid? On topic, on topic. Next question."

If he had said, “That’s a clown question”, the “media” would be loving all over him right now and saying he’s the smartest person who ever lived. Naw.
If the gov’s reported quotation is accurate, he did not call the reporter an idiot. Rather, he asked the reporter if he was stupid.
Big difference.
Gov Christie is no shrinking Violet, and I like his brashness.
If he had said, Thats a clown question,

You have to add ‘bro’ to make that work....<: <:
Leno showed the other night how ‘sayings are born, and subsequently ‘killed’.
He showed Bryce Harper and conceded a ‘statement’ was born.
He then showed Harry Reid making the same statement, word for word.
Needless to say, the delivery was somewhat different.....
Leno concluded ‘That is a quick end to a fad’.
Yes, he did call the reporter an idiot, but the reporter was an idiot, as most of them are. And the problem is?

Christie said, “Thank you all very much and I’m sorry for the idiot over there. Take care.” before walking away.
Baravelli may look like an idiot, he may talk like an idiot, but don’t let that fool you...he really is an idiot! I implore you...
Read the quote...He asked, “Are you stupid?.” Christie did NOT all the reporter stupid. The burden is now on the report to prove his state of being.....
Christie>Grimmace
The comments at no.com are running about 10-1 against Christie. We admire the guy, but remember that he has to have the votes of the Oprah soccer mom crowd to be effective. He may wear out his welcome.

I am not a fan of the loud and brash Gov. And why won’t he answer questions from the press? It’s not like the question didn’t have to do with you know, governing. I’m very glad he’s not my gov (although...not a fan at all of the gov I do have).
"Christie said, "Thank you all very much and I'm sorry for the idiot over there. Take care." before walking away."
Enjoy yourself.
While you can.
...is DU missing another idiot?
Then he leaves.
Governing is not IdiObama's thing.
So do NJ residents. In deeply blue State his approval is north of 60%. Unless you live in NJ it is hard to understand how miraculous that is for the State.
He has never been more popular then he is now with an approval over 6o%. He has balanced the budget in NJ and for the first time in most anyones memory he has held taxes in line and in fact is pushing HARD for a tax decrease.
You think he will become unpopular because he calls out people who try to set him up to look bad? Since when are reporters popular with the gen public? A huge majority of people no longer even trust the media anyway and as for him lambasting the unions and the other politicians, well only the liberals in office along with their reporter friends object to that.
I live in NJ and am surrounded by Lefties and trust me when I tell you after initially disliking the guy because he was a republican they have come to admire, respect and even like him because he has a spine. He is a RINO to be sure but at least he stands for what he believes even if I (we) disagree with some of his positions.
Disagreement with and respect for an individual can occur simultaneously.
How about reading the article? The ground rules were set before the PC started as happens many times when an elected official appears before the press to inform and discuss on a specific subject.
The reporters were told there questions should be limited to the subject at hand. What is so hard to understand about that? By definition the reporter is stupid so what’s the problem?
In NJ there are plenty of people who are not fans of Christie but for a Republican Gov, albeit a RINO to have an approval rating north of 60% is a political miracle.
