I just have to say this one thing. The MARKETPLACE is always, always, always right in the end. That's as true with healthcare as with anything else.
Not everyone can afford a doctor. I get that. Now, we could use the NANNY STATE to "fix" that, or we can lift the regulations and allow the marketplace to offer alternatives.
First, we need to cut off the spigot to freeloaders and parasites. About 90% of illness is the fault of the person who got sick. And while it is fashionable these days to bail people out from the consequences of their own actions, we can't afford that anymore. So, we need to send a message: If you don't have health insurance, then don't smoke, don't drink, don't eat crappy food because, if you do, then nobody is going to force your fellow citizens to help. That is immoral.
Imagine what the nation would be like if we did that. A few people might gave to face severe consequences till the message sunk in. But after that, we'd see some quick changes!
Then, we need to deregulate the health care market, get rid of the FDA, lift regulations on who can do what to whom and when, and then stand back. The market will step in with health care options that people can afford. The new options might not be fancy, but they WILL emerge.
Not everything needs to be treated by a doctor. People can and should take care of themselves whenever they can. If we get the NANNY STATE out of the way, then they will, or they will face the consequences. And either way, their problems won't end up generating a huge bill for the rest of us.
A discussion can hardly be had based on assertions that are highly questionable. How did most children misbehave in order to get the illnesses they generally do? How did the person with Meniere’s disease hurt his or own inner ear? Maybe the elderly should kill themselves so they don’t get geriatric ailments?
Parents should be responsible for the health care of their kids. And you cannot deny that 90% of illness is LIFESTYLE related. People don’t do what is needed to stay healthy.
Yes I can deny it, Euell Gibbons.
About 90% of illness is the fault of the person who got sick.
I won't even begin to tell you how my life's experiences lay that to waste. By.
He was within the 10% or so that could be genetic. But even so, why should the poor health of OTHER PEOPLE generate a bill for me or any other taxpayer?
Don’t conflate distinct issues and then expect what you have to say to be treated as any semblance of logic or reason.
Nothing will fix our health system until serious tort reform happens.
I couldn’t agree with you more..........
You are 100% correct. ACTUALLY you are more like (100,000%) correct.
We have had the best laws, health care, (etc) when the public has it’s say in the matter - and not the politicians.
When and “If” our politicians ever relearn that lesson, we will regain our rights.
-—— otherwise, WE LOSE!
Look, part of where we are disconnecting here is that Freepers are more responsible and logical than the average bear. I think the good, conservative, mostly Christian people here have NO IDEA how liberals, atheists and others of that ilk actually live. The liberal atheist, for example is a slothful, promiscuous, unhealthy kind of beast, very likely to be a drug user and/or a heavy drinker. Such people so what feels good and dont think of the consequences because they feel ENTITLED to be bailed out. That is a BIG reason health care is out of whack.
Between the corrupt medical system and the fact that even without Robertscare various governments pay more than half of all medical bills. Add in weasels in suits and there is no chance for the market to do anything. If you want to fix healthcare you need to go back to individuals paying their own bills. Until you do that, no one with a voice has any incentive to change things.
