Obama to Soldiers: Pay Up
free beacon ^

Posted on 06/29/2012 12:02:46 PM PDT by sunmars

The Obama administration on Friday threatened to veto a defense appropriations bill in part because it does not include higher health care fees for members of the military.

“The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation,” the White House wrote in an official policy statement expressing opposition to the bill, which the House approved in May.

President Obama’s most recent budget proposal includes billions of dollars in higher fees for members of TRICARE, the military health care system, and is part of the administration’s plan to cut nearly $500 billion from the Pentagon’s budget.

Some fear the administration’s proposal is an effort to increase enrollment in the state-run insurance exchanges mandated under the president’s controversial health care law.

The administration urged the House to “reconsider” to fee increase, arguing they are “essential for DOD to successfully address rising personnel costs.”

The House bill has significant bipartisan support, and easily passed by a margin of 299 to 120.

Surely this means every public servant at every level of the Executive Branch will soon be required to pay their FAIR SHARE of health insurance premiums, as well. Right? </sarcasm>

doesn’t Tricare have a mail order pharma option?

I find that so much easier for all my chronic long term meds.

Re: Now watch for Obama and his minions to pull some sh*tty trick to prevent the military from voting in November.

When I was in Iraq in 2004 I requested an absentee ballot and I am still waiting for it.

Yes, they do offer mail order - and I may have to resort to that. I just prefer one on one with my pharmacist.

The point I wanted to make, was that this Administration is no longer honoring the troops with what has been promised (and honored) for many years.

Sadly the country is broke.
But don’t worry, the Death Panels are probably going to fix the Social Security and Medicare funding problem.

We just signed up for Tricare Prime a few weeks ago. I know several retired O5 - O7 and retired SR enlisted who now despise this a hole. Some even voted for him in ‘08.

Bless your heart--and your late husband's!

I think the figures you cited need to go right into a Romeny ad--along with a blurb about how many times the heads of the SEIU visited the White House.

It just underlines the arrogance if those who support Obama, and the disdain they have for the REPUBLIC our Founding Fathers fought to uphold, and those who are "naive" enough to believe it still stands for something besides "gimmee"!

“This reads to me that there won’t be any military vote in November.”

Many if not most big states find a way to not count the military absentee vote. Not counting that vote is standard.

I entered into the Federal Service after four years of active duty in Sep 1964. I retired in Jul 1997. I have paid insurance preniums every pay period since then. Even today, I’m paying $300 a month for the federal BC/BS and another $100 a month for Medicare. And I am NOT complaining.

Exactly - during the last (threatened) shutdown, only essential government personnel were going to get paid. This did not include the military.

Not Essential?

That’s how they were treated in the old Soviet Union, not the good old U. S. of A.!!! Oh, wait...I guess that’s the answer, huh?

Yup, you got it!

You don’t have a Wal-Mart there, do you Yorkie? They’re having no problem accepting our TriCare prescriptions.

Have you looked into the mail-order program for TriCare prescriptions? My boss uses that and is pleased. And that’s with a military pharmacy less than 10 miles away.

To: Alas Babylon!

but Obama is the same clown giving out free cell phones to lazabouts and welfare ne’er do wells??? Cut that crap first.

Exactly. I’m retired AF and I’m the first to admit that Tricare is a relatively good deal. Could be willing to pay more in fees, but don’t understand why people who have done squat for this country get free stuff. Especially illegals. That should be the FIRST thing to go.

Hi, Jinx! Haven’t seen you for ages!

No - Walmart is in Cottonwood, and I’m still not able to drive very far - so it is out of the question. I may be asking you for the address for Tricare prescriptions.

I used to drive to Luke AFB - once a month or so, to the PX for groceries. (Saved a good third off my monthly bill!) Of course that is out of the question, now - but maybe next year.

But, if “O” gets re-elected, he will no doubt raise the prices on all the Bases. (Gotta stick it to the Troops, don’cha know?)

Working 20 years as a civil servant unless it was in a prison or Federal Law Enforcement is not the same as active duty. We had a contract and promises were made. For the record, I pay out more per month than you do, and when I am eligible for medicaid, I lose coverage, I do not have BC/BS to fall back on. TRICARE for Life is on the chopping block now. Did they force you to run a CFT or a PFT when you were 50 years old? Did you have quarterly body fat measurements? As a civil service did you do 5 - 10 mile hikes well into your 40s? We all make our choices, you made yours so it is well you are NOT complain. Stop trying to compare apples and oranges, most of the Marines retiring this year have done 5 combat tours in the last 10 years, what were you doing during that time. If you did all the same things required of a service member, I stand corrected.

Easily solved if the military would simply swear an oath to obey Obama rather than defend the constitution.

There's something very, very wrong there.

I guess he didn’t get the memo that the Joint Chiefs and the CIA have been running this country since Ike. JFK tried to buck the status quo when he hit on the 3rd rail of the federal reserve and his “secret societies” speach”.

This is a project of Augean proportions, but it is a project which needs to be undertaken with vigor. Unless we put these bastards on the street in November, we, as a republic, are toast. Burnt toast. Burnt. Carbon. Ash. sd
