Do Democrats care about the dismal economy that is now in the fourth year of Barack Obama's jobless presidency?
Despite mounting evidence the sluggish economy is slowing down further, unemployment is climbing, and the Democrats' core voting blocs are suffering the most under Obama's economic policies, he still holds a slight overall lead over Republican Mitt Romney in the latest Gallup polls.
Even though Obama's approval/disapproval numbers are poor (45 percent/47 percent), Gallup shows him with a 46 percent to 44 percent edge over the former governor.
And recent polling in three critical battleground states -- Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio -- gives Obama relatively healthy leads in each of them.
Gallup surveys show Obama has maintained strong support among the Democrats' most loyal constituencies, African-Americans, Hispanics and Latinos, and in the party overall.
Nearly one-third of Obama voters say the chief reason they are voting for him is because he has done a good job overall. Another 10 percent, believe it or not, say the will vote for him because of the economy and his economic recovery plan.
Another 40 percent say they will support him because of what he has done for job creation and employment, "the working/middle class," or they generally agree with his views, or just because they always vote Democratic.
Only 1 percent of Obama voters in the Gallup poll say the president is "doing a poor job" and "want [him] out of office."
Much of the Democratic Party is made up of "working class", low- to-middle income Americans and of course minorities. And these groups have arguably suffered most from Obama's policies that have resulted in mediocre job creation, falling incomes and the weakest recovery since the Great Depression.
The overall jobless rate among African-Americans, who overwhelmingly support Obama's re-election, was nearly 14 percent last month. For black men it was 15 percent, up from 14.6 percent, and for black women it was 12.3 percent, up from 11.7 percent.
Unemployment for black teenagers between the ages of 16 and 19 was a life-suppressing 36.5 percent.
The job market for Hispanic men was also bleak and showed little or no signs of improvement: 11.1 percent, up from 9.8 percent in April.
The overall youth job market is a national catastrophe that goes unnoticed in the White House or in President Obama's campaign speeches. Fewer than 3 in 10 work-eligible teenagers hold jobs. The rest can't find one or are working only part-time.
Job creation has plunged to nearly negligible levels in recent months, from sub-par levels in the past three years. A mediocre 69,000 jobs were created last month when we have ad hundreds of thousands of jobs created month by month in previous recoveries.
Unemployment is particularly severe among middle-age Americans between the ages of 45-to-64-year-olds. The jobless level among this group "remains near its highest rate in 70 years," The Wall Street Journal reported last weekend.
"More than 3.5 million Americans" in this vulnerable age group "were unemployed as of May, 39 percent of them for a year or more -- a rate of long-term unemployment that is unprecedented in modern U.S. history, and far higher than among younger workers," the Journal reported.
The long stalled economy barely grew by 1.9 percent in the first three months of this year, the economic equivalent of barely breathing. It grew by only 1.7 percent in 2011.
The Federal Reserve Board projected last week that our economy will grow this year by between 1.9 percent and 2.4 percent - half a point slower than they forecast in April.
The Fed also projected that high unemployment levels will persist at 7 percent or higher by the end of 2014.
The story of the Obama economy has been a litany of one bad report after another. In a story about the further downgrading of U.S. and global banks by the financial ratings agency Moody's, the Washington Post flatly said that economic conditions in the U.S. were "stagnating."
Yet in a breathtaking remark that revealed how deeply uninformed and disconnected he is from all of this, Obama said "the private sector is doing fine." The public sector is the one that needs financial assistance, he said.
Knowing this was patently false, the Heritage Foundation rechecked the employment numbers at the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for the last five years and here's what they found:
"Private-sector employment is nearly 4 percent lower than it was when the recession began -- worse than the declines in state and local government employment, and far worse than federal employment."
Nevertheless, Obama is out on the hustings telling the base of his party what they want to hear but isn't true: That the economy is improving, that jobs are being created, that things are getting better, that the recovery is on track.
Democrats who know better want him to stop talking like that and start dealing honestly with the American people.
"I'm worried that when the White House or the campaign talks about the progress that's being made, people take that as a signal that they think that things are fine and people don't feel they ought to believe that," Democratic strategist James Carville said on ABC's Good Morning American earlier this month.
Meantime, don't look for any major changes in Obama's tricky campaign rhetoric. He wants Democrats to believe things are better when they're not, and his party's base wants to believe it, too.
But when the economic numbers worsen over the next four months, as they will, even some of the most die-hard, jobless Democrats are going to say enough is enough.
Sure they care about it.. .to the extent of making it far worse in order to expand the dependency class.
This is all about to come to an end. The economy is going to take a downward turn in such a way that it will break the will of the most stubborn Democrat voter. Everyone has their breaking point.
They only care about power. As long as they have power, they couldn’t give a rat’s patotie about the economy.
And apparently, the anti-Romney crowd isn’t so worried about the Obama economy either.
Democrats live in an alternate reality where facts do not exist and everything is as they wish it to be. They will have no regrets until their stomachs start to growl at them and bullets pierce their hearts.
Democrat politicians are a class unto themselves. They care not one whit about anything other than getting elected and picking up a paycheck. They make no hard choices regardless of the looming catastrophe. They are the vile slithering underbelly of the netherworld.I cannot stand listening to them. I much prefer chalk screeching against a blackboard. Republicans are politicians also with their own self interest at heart but on occasion they will present the hard choices like the Ryan budget or medicare reform.Although they will back off when overwhelmed by the Democrat maggots infesting and feasting off the public carcass. End of rant.
Lets see the polls after that decision
The good news is that when you get down to the “die hard democrats” there are so few of them that they really don’t matter. Why else would OBonehead be working so hard at dividing the rest of the country into little groups and attempting to pick them off one at a time.
Do any of the Democrats, or the vast majority of Republicans, for that matter, have clue one about how to improve the economy? It has already gone over the cliff, and everyone is along for the ride. We don’t have the brain power to manipulate trillions and trillions and trillions of dollars, and euros, and yen of debt into a positive. Romney and company better concentrate on jobs, bringing business and industry back to America and protecting our borders. Let the private sector economy extricate itself from the public sector. There is opportunity for us despite the world’s economy.
To be blunt anyone stupid enough to elect Obama in the first place is too stupid to realize what a horrible choice that was.
It’s just that simple.
Chuckee, I couldn't have said it better. Ditto for me. And, the low life demons from hell Dems scream, shout down and degrade anyone who comes up with ANY reasonable solutions. They are too freak’n stupid and indoctrinated to do otherwise.

--H.L. Mencken, The Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920
For one afflicted with the Democrat mindset, there is no future. There is only the impulsiveness of today.Particularly true of Democrats is the statement that in a democracy once the people discover they can vote themselves tribute, they will do so until they have destroyed the future. They will borrow against the credit of the unborn for their own benefit until they have obliterated the future for those yet born. That is why some project that 200-250 years is the life expectancy of a Democracy. The paradox is the problem with democracy is it gives rise to Democrats.
I’m getting the impression that a lot of working Democrats are a little sorry the Supremes didn’t save them from Obamacare. The hard core left will never learn.

“hard core left” = communists.
They seek one thing - control.
Die hard Democrats are basically communists they are overjoyed that the economy sucks rocks it means they can tell people that big govt. will be their salvation all you need to do is sell your soul.
One of the core beliefs of the socialist international, an organization of leftist and liberal political parties around the world, is that nations are arbitrary and obsolete, and need to be replaced by regional and world government.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_international#Member_parties
In 2010, the Socialist Party of America released a list of 70 serving US congressmen and senators that belong to their caucus.
Given these two things, that socialists are opposed to the very idea of nations, and that socialist congressmen form a very large bloc in congress, the following can be stated:
1) Socialists have not been, are not now, and never will be patriotic, nor loyal to the United States, nor will they honor their oath of office expressing loyalty to the US constitution and our republican form of government.
No matter what they say, or what outrage they express when their patriotism or loyalty are questioned, their political affiliation is for the destruction, one way or another, of the United States as an independent and sovereign nation.
2) They do not see themselves as passive agents in this goal, but as having the tools they need to carry out their agenda. And they see those that oppose their agenda or who try and thwart it, or who express patriotism and loyalty to America, the individual rights and freedoms of Americans, as well as to religion and religious faith, as their enemies.
3) They have deep, bitter, and abiding hatred of the enemies of international socialism, and continually strive to harm and destroy them and their ideas. They abhor individual accomplishment and success, abundant resources in private hands, personal honor, integrity, and respect for moral values.
Therefore, to answer the original question, “Do Democrats care about the dismal economy...?”, they answer is “Only insofar as it can be used to increase their political power and the socialist agenda. They do not care if people are hurt, if families are torn apart, and that millions live in deep despair. They are more than willing to do this to others to accomplish their goals.”
