Catholic Vote Critical in Quest to Repeal Obamacare
PRNewswire ^ | June 28, 2012 | Brian Burch

Posted on 06/28/2012 6:19:01 PM PDT by Vince Ferrer

Brian Burch, President of CatholicVote.org, issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the individual insurance mandate as a tax, holding that the Affordable Care Act is constitutional.

"The power to overturn this legislation now rests with the American people, who opposed this legislation from day one. Given the power wielded by Catholics in every election, the election of a pro-freedom President and Senate must now become the number one political goal of every Catholic voter in America.

There are so many Catholics who have no conscience already (Pelosi, Kennedys, Sebelius, etc, etc, etc.) I’ll be surprised if enough of those cafeteria types vote for candidates who have repeal as part of their platforms.

Catholic Vote Critical in Quest to Repeal Obamacare

"Catholics" made it possible to begin with. It would be a reversal of historic proportions.

With all due respect, we can’t rely on Catholics to rally a vote against Obama and his Dem surrogates. The 2008 stats show Catholic voter support for this guy who fully supported PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION!

My own experince....all of my in-laws are Catholic and all of them (18 Catholic educatated, and fully employed) supported Obama and Obamacare.

John Roberts was 1 grade behind me in the same Catholic school. I can assure all of you, He had Catechism readings regularly in St Bernadette's OP NY . He was not at a loss for Catholic teachings. Small Parish in the mid 1960s, between corn fields. He did not leave there not knowing something about God and His Commandments, Sister Bernadette would of made sure He could recite them. This decision, is His, and His alone. Don't blame the Church.

And I did not know the kid, We were all about 5- 10 and then gone, 1 thru 6 about 6 rooms a few bathrooms.

Exactly so.

It bears repeating to those Catholics who would like to claim otherwise.

the Church in this age has quite fallen short. Or perhaps its termites pretending to be in the Church. It doesn't matter -- the Church is in need of contrition, not denial. Should we start naming all the Catholics whose fingerprints are on Obamacare and the Obama administration?

BS, This is His, You may Be Pissed off at the Church, But This Decision was Johns alone. The Church as an institution in America has voiced its opposition very clear.

"Catholics" made it possible to begin with. . . .

No, cafeteria Catholics, Catholics in name only, and all other sorts of Catholics you can name aren't to blame either.

Catholics of all sorts are part of the problem but they absolutely were not the deciding factor that put King Barry in office.

The reality is that millions of non-Catholics who claim to be Christian sat out the election because they didn't think McCain was pure enough, they think they're personally too pure to bother with voting, or they just went along with the crowd and voted for King Barry because they had lapped up the Kool Aide the democrat propaganda machine shoveled out for eight years, coupled with the millions of black folks who claim to be Christians is what put Barry in office. Catholics, at most, kept a couple of House seats from staying in the Republican camp.

Anyone who cares to can figure out that the number of Catholics who voted for Barry minus the number who voted against Barry means that Catholics are only a fraction of the margin of victory Barry won by. On top of that, Catholic votes weren't the deciding factor in any swing state. The vast majority of Catholic votes for Barry were in States that Barry won by a wide margin. All the non-Catholics who like to point their finger at someone else are just looking for an excuse rather than facing the fact that it's lazy, uncommitted, non-Catholics, who claim to be Christian that put Barry in office because non-Catholics who claim to be Christians constitute over seventy percent of the votes cast. That's exactly why people like to toss out percentages rather than totals. Even 100 percent of Catholic votes doesn't equal twenty percent of all votes cast but as long as you ignore the totals, you can yell about percentages to try and further the divisive agenda that is intended to keep Christians from uniting and defeating the child murdering fascist scum who have been the ruling majoity on the Hill for nearly eighty years.

So, it's fine to be excactly like Barry and blame anyone other than yourself or your little crowd, but facts prove otherwise. As long as people who claim to be Christian can't admit that their own chickens are coming home to roost instead of pretending it's all someone elses fault they'll never repent and nothing will change. Unless people sober up and look at facts instead of playing their own games every time they get the chance you might as well get used to the ideal of being a serf rather than a citizen and having the government tell you what you can worship along with whether you're allowed to live a little while longer or not.

This country would have never gotten this far down the toilet if people wern't in the habit of sucking up the the opium of blaming their favorite patsy, than nodding off and being just too comfortable to vote much less work hard enough to turn things around. This court decision is the end result of eighty years of letting fascists say in the majority and making excuse after excuse to not rock the boat.

have a nice day

Exactly not so and it only bears repeating of you’re afraid of seeing all Christians work together to turn the country around.

Really?

Show me where the Catholic Church wants this legislation thrown out. Show me.

You’ll show me all sorts of self-serving nonsense about wanting exemptions for the Church-run hospitals to not be forced into administering abortions and providing contraception, but NOWHERE can you show me a press release from the USCCB or CHA unequivocally opposing this law. NOWHERE.

And the reason why there is no unequivocal opposition to the idea of government-provided healthcare is because Church supports the idea of government providing healthcare.

They just want it done “their way.”

Seeee...why we must pray, Catholics and Protestants.

How in the world do you trust the man (who helped author Obamacare with Romneycare) to end “his” plan if you just elect him!! If only Mitt had legislated something for life since Romneycare.

Everyone’s upset about Justice Roberts, Romney is a professional turncoat.

"Should we start naming all the Catholics whose fingerprints are on Obamacare and the Obama administration?"

We absolutely should right along with all the thousands from all those thousands of denominations that call themselves Christians. They need to cowboy up and do the same thing instead of pretending they're not the majority of the voting public. Election after election the majority of the people who vote democrat are not Catholic, they're non-Catholic Christians who after the election play along with pretending to be shocked that Catholics would vote for someone like the democrat candidate. Just like with Carter, Barry won by a tidy margin but now you can't find a soul who voted for him or a single Obama sticker on an automobile in spite of the fact that every sort of Church had plenty of cars with an Obama bumper stickers in their lot when Barry was running.

It's not the prominent Catholics in the administration I care about, they're all life long sellouts anyway and everyone has known it for years if not decades. I care about people like one of my neighbors who wouldn't miss a Church service, goes to a Fundamentalist Church, and sat out the last election because, "if it's between McCain and Obama, I'm not bothering to vote", along with the millions who claim they're Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist, and so on, who voted for Barry and even worked for Barry. For some strange reason, those folks always slide along and never get pointed out. They were all for Carter and anyone else that isn't a Republican, but, "Oh no, they're not the problem"

Catholics do need to look in the mirror and point out those who are defying both the Church and the Constitution, but until the people who constitute the majority of the voting public do the same thing, it's only helping those who have made a career out of keeping Christians from all standing together on what they have in common.

Right after you count for me the States where Catholics constitute more than twenty percent of registered voters, the number of Senators and Congressmen who cannot get elected without getting more than fifty percent of the Catholic vote, and how many of the votes in the House and Senate that amounts to.

You're blowing smoke again, the Catholic Church wanted this for a century, when did it happen? Are Catholics suddenly more than the twenty percent or so of the population they've always been? Are the good Methodists, Baptists, and so on who elected the Senators who voted for this mess and are from States where the Catholic vote is meaningless somehow at the mercy of what Catholics want?

If that were the case, there would have been a voucher system for K-12 education ever since the turn of the century instead of government run schools because that's what the Catholic Church wanted and has always wanted. So, now we suddenly have no public schools because that's what te Catholic Church wants? How about the Methodist Church? What did they have to say? How about those Baptists other than the SBC? They're meaningless? What about the millions of black folks who claim their Evangelicals, they don't count?

Keep playing your games to avoid looking in the mirror or at you own clique if you like, but it doesn't change the fact that Catholics have never been the majority in this country. Non-Catholic Christian folks who are from Protestant and Protestant derived churches are the majority and always have been. They're the majority of the people who voted for Obama, the majority of the people who handed the House and Senate back to the democrat fascist party, and the majority of those always pointing fingers at anyone but themselves.

have a nice day
