LOS ANGELES (CBS) Millions of Angelenos joined insurers across California in cheering the Supreme Court decision on Wednesday to uphold most of President Obamas health care initiative.
KNX 1070′s John Brooks reports as many as 3 million people in Los Angeles County who currently do not have medical insurance will soon have more options than county hospitals.
The news reverberated quickly through waiting rooms at the county USC Medical Center, where one cancer survivor said she needs the protection granted to those with preexisting conditions under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) after she lost her home because of mounting medical bills.
I think its great, she said. Im for Obama, Im for his health care program, lets help our people, our working people.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa called the court ruling a good thing and said the decision was long overdue.

Need Help?Is it perfect? No one has ever argued that it is, but its a step forward for America, said Villaraigosa. When you think about it, this is one of the few countries in the world, Western industrialized countries in the world that didnt have universal health care coverage.
This is the most under-insured big city in the United States of America, so this is great for Los Angeles, he added.
The benefits of Thursdays 6-3 decision will likely extend to cash-strapped Sacramento as well.
An estimated 5 million residents will be able to access health insurance under the law, with roughly 3.1 million eligible for subsidized coverage and another 1.5 million Californians who will be newly eligible for expanded Medicaid or Medi-Cal coverage
California is also planning to open a marketplace in 2014 where people can choose health insurance coverage and determine whether they qualify for subsidies.
State insurance commissioner Dave Jones told KNX 1070′s Charles Feldman that undocumented residents will not gain benefits under the health care law, but will continue to be able to receive emergency care at any hospitals ER room as already mandated under federal law assuming Congress does not act to repeal the law.
Those individuals will still have the ability to avail themselves of charity care, but the law does not reach them, said Jones.
The House is set to vote on repeal of the Affordable Care Act in mid-July.
we do, that is the taxpayers that actually pay tax
Hospitals around the country best be hiring some more security guards because I guarantee there are going to be a lot of illegals headed to the hospital over the next few days. They think this is in effect now. And they way the politicians and pundits are spinning it, I don’t blame them.
Got a mirror?
Not surprising coming from California. They are parasites sucking
Everything up around them.

Yes, “millions benefit” - at the expense of ALL taxpayers.

How many of our working people did she “help” before she got sick?
Yup,and close to 1,000 of them will be in this country legally.
Of course, we who DO pay for our insurance are the ones who are paying for those who don’t. Our Mexican mayor is very happy about that. The hospitals must give them free service even if they don’t pay anything.

They need free food too! What good is free medical care without free food? Also, they need free housing! /sarc
It’s actually a little worse than that.
State and Federal tax dollars go to pay for the goods and services that illegal aliens get.
They just don’t pay enough..
1. hospitals take it in the shorts
2. taxpayers take it in the shorts
3. other patients take it in the shorts, paying more to cover the rest of the illegal’s bills
4. insurance companies pay higher rates
5. physicians and health care providers cut costs and services to the bone to save
6. citizen patients who can pay still get inferior service
7. the government causes a reduction in hands on care, and longer lines for citizens to access medical care
There’s more...
Our Mexican L.A. Mayor, Villaragosa is very happy that we who pay for our insurance are actually also paying for those who don’t.
Those would be the “undocumented.”

Doughty One, I know exactly what you are saying. We have been paying for these people for years and years.
No relief in sight for us. They get free food, (Cal Fresh),
and whatever they need, housing, medical care, name it, they get it free.
We, the Americans pay.
