With all eyes on the individual mandate Thursday, Mitt Romney got a shout-out from Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in her opinion on the Affordable Care Act.
Writing on the subject of providing affordable insurance to those with preexisting conditions, Ginsburg noted that Massachusetts cracked [the] adverse selection problem. and highlighted briefs explaining the success of Massachusetts reforms.
Under the Massachusetts health system, most residents were required to buy insurance so that insurance companies wouldnt be left only with sick customers and thus skyrocketing premiums.
As a result, federal lawmakers observed, Massachusetts succeeded where other States had failed, Ginsburg wrote.

Ginsburg hands Obama a winning campaign slogan.

I don’t see any way for Romney to campaign against this decision. It is his brainchild which John Roberts has just baptized.

Yep, the GOP-E, true to form, demanded and got the worst possible candidate to stand up to Obama and Roberts on this decision.

This part has always fascinated me. Everyone pays so the insurance companies don’t end up with the entire bill. I think this means the insurance companie’s profits will be set by the government. I guess they supported it because they knew that was the only way they could survive.
But for now, buy Aetna!

Ginsburg is a lying, politicizing old B%$@*!!!
The Federeal Government doesn’t follow State Consitutional Law or America would more closely resemble New jersey - politically.
She knew very much what she was doing when she did this.
She should be impeached for politicizing from the bench.
If the GOP had any testicles they would do just that.

Romney hopes Americans grasp at straws and vote for the guy who says he'll reverse it, regardless of what he did in Mass.
&%$ damn the GOP, I'll be one of them.

Politico is trying to turn the electorate against Romney because they know this tax will all but destroy obama. Looks like at least one freeper fell for their ploy.

If the GOP had any testicles they would do just that.If the GOP-E had any political savvy, they would have seen this coming. Obamacare has been taken off the table as a winning issue for Mitt. Ginsburg just made it history.

And decreasing coverage. I buy health insurance, as mandated, yet when I get my prescriptions, I pay cash because they are not covered. When I go to the doctor, I get a bill a month later because the visit isn't covered.
But a rapidly increasing number of residents pay nothing, not even premiums, because the state covers it all for them. They are "low income", so it's said.

So far, you are the
only one on this thread who got that fundamental correct. SCOTUS does
not cite state law to uphold the constitutionality of federal law.
Ginsberg just as easily could have cited UK or Canadian law for the same effect.
But such facts are inconvenient to the "We're screwed so let's start a civil war now" crowd.

“Ginsberg just as easily could have cited UK or Canadian law for the same effect.”
And I think she and O’Connor have stated they have the authority to do just that, which should be impeachment talk.

It would be if conservatives had an ounce of integrity. Instead they'll happily and knowingly lie to themselves to support the master.

We’ve always had to buy our own insurance, too. We figured up awhile back that we’ve paid $100k in premiums and they’ve paid out $75. It makes a huge difference when you know you’ll end up paying for everything.
Meanwhile, my welfare-funded niece hauls her kid to the doctor every time he sniffles.
