As a guy who's been unemployed for a few months, I've made a habit of looking for silver linings in the darkness. Folks, there is some good news to this monstrosity: now Romney's path to the White House is pretty much assured.
Up until today, Obama had one issue that was haunting him: the economy. He could blame the GOP for not doing being "bipartisan"...a charge that has always made me nauseous. But as of today, Obama's got to defend a policy that the majority of American people don't like. And he can't blame the Republicans for this - they didn't vote for it.
Guess what? Obama just raised taxes on the middle class. How did that work out for George H. Bush? The Democrats, as we all know, are not the party of the middle class. The debt now exceeds the GDP. The higher it goes, the greater pressures there will be to raise taxes on the middle class.
Romney can point out that with another four years of Obama, more taxes will be coming. Does anyone doubt that this administration will raise taxes on energy through cap and trade? And given this man's fondness for issuing executive orders, why let a little bump in the road like Congress get in the way of what he wants?
Now, like many of you, Mitt Romney was not my first choice. I hated Romneycare. On the other hand, there is a difference between what a state can do, and what the federal government can do - it's clearly explained in the Constitution. And I do think Romney has been clear on this point: that the current FCA is an overreach of federal power. Romney has vowed to repeal this - and I think with a Senate majority, he can do so, just like the Democrats did when they forced this on the American people.
a) I don’t buy that Romney has “won the election”. It was going to be close before Robert’s treachery and it still will be.
b) Even if Romney does win, BIG DEAL. Willard INVENTED the individual mandate. He is a pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-illegal, anti-traditional values, Big Government, LIBERAL SOCIALIST. As badly as Roberts stabbed American conservatives in the back, it will be nothing compared to what Romney will do if he is elected.
While better than Obama, it’s not a silver lining. More like tin. Maybe aluminum.
An Amish Obama-loving coworker was listening to him. Sickening.
Any positive thoughts are quickly struck down by the negative - Nellie’s on this site. I’m with you, though. Obama is toast!
Uh huh...

“Dont bet the farm on it. Oops, we all are, because the farm is gone if Obama gets re-elected.”
The supreme court already ruled the government can take your farm, sell it for profit, and do so simply to make profit for the government. You get nothing if that’s what the government decides you get. “Sell you farm to us or esle get taxed 100%.”
Our retirement depends on us. We have taken precautions...and we also trust God. ;-)
That depends on if there are actually two distinct parties to choose from and what they stand for.
Nonetheless, "Anybody But obama" is going to be the popular candidate this election, even if that means Romney.
May Romney be, if not the fighter we want, at least be the fighter we need to survive.
Why isn’t there an option to delete ones double-posts?
Possibly 4 court appointments under the next President.
You bet this will fire up our side. You bet.
In some ways, defining this clearly as a tax makes it easier for congress to get rid of it.
“Folks, there is some good news to this monstrosity: now Romney’s path to the White House is pretty much assured.”
No, that’s not the case. Rather, the election is now Gov. Romney’s to lose. If he runs a good, tight campaign, he will win. But if George H.W. Bush had run a good, tight campaign in 1992, we’d have avoided the regime of BJ Clinton.
Gov. Romney must now capitalize on this issue. It is a very winning issue. But up until now, he’s been fairly cautious in his approach.
He cannot only say what he is against. He will have to lay out, at least in broad terms, what he is for.
Gov. Romney can beat the anti-Christ. But it is NOT “pretty much assured.”
Not by a long shot.
I know that many posters here are against Gov. Romney. However, I would encourage you to think about it in this way: It is possible that Gov. Romney, upon being elected, may betray us in many ways. It is guaranteed that the anti-Christ will continue to betray us in every way.
There is some hope in electing Gov. Romney. There is only darkness, cataclysm, catastrophe in allowing the re-election of the anti-Christ.
Regrettably, to have even any hope, we must work, and work hard to elect Gov. Romney to the presidency (now I will go wash my typing fingers, which now feel dirty).
Wait wait, don’t tell me, Romney is going to win on that fact that it was his idea first!
That's the positive spin. But the question is, why didn't he just do the right thing and vote with Kennedy and the constitutionalists? Why play games with the nation's future? That is unspeakable of him.
Yeah so either by desgin or bad luck Roberts did some good...
this needs to be writ large, bc it is, in a nutshell, the bottom line.
Not exactly Throwback.. the precedent is thus, it can not force you to buy.... but tax u if u do not. I always knew this would fly as a taxing bill but Congress at the time and Obama lied about that and Roberts sees that it was written within that parameter.... that said congress now holds the purse strings..... and if the part about the states not being subject to with holding Fed funds then this house of cards is DOA......
