Obamacare wins: SCOTUS upholds individual mandate
Posted: 6/28/2012 10:21:48 AM
The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the individual insurance requirement at the heart of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
The decision means the historic overhaul will continue to go into effect over the next several years, affecting the way that countless Americans receive and pay for their personal medical care. The ruling also handed Obama a campaign-season victory in rejecting arguments that Congress went too far in requiring most Americans to have health insurance or pay a penalty.
Chief Justice John Roberts announced the court's judgment that allows the law to go forward with its aim of covering more than 30 million uninsured Americans.

Revolt!
Disgusting. But hopefully, there is a possible loophole allowing states who haven’t set up exchanges to avoid doing so without the fed punishing them.
Texas will not set up an exchange if at all possible, and the other 26 states that brought the suit probably won’t either. So all the deadbeats who want ObamaCare can migrate to the states who wanted it....sweet!
Impeach Roberts.
Did Roberts wake up next to a horse head one morning?
How did Nanzi know what Roberts was going to do?
I think a tax is more dangerous than a fine for not complying with a mandate.
When the USG wanted to stop trade in marihuana, the very first thing they tried was a tax, set iirc at $200 per ounce which was a serious chunk of change in the 1930’s, a significant fraction of one’s yearly pay. They made it a tax because they though a ban would be struck down, and hey made the tax completely unreasonable.
So now that the Obamacare penalty is a tax, I expect the same logic, they will set the tax to be very very high if you refuse the great benefit of Obamacare.
I don’t see Congress or Romney saving us from this one. And the precedent is now set, it’s OK to use taxes to attain social goals.
Looks like Pelousy was right...didn’t see that coming.
Harriet Miers is starting to look pretty good right now. What a sack-O-crap, Ivy League, creative constitutionalist Roberts has turned out to be, another turd floating in the pot.
Look on the bright side.
At least we can now run ads until the election saying Obama and the Democrats have imposed the largest tax increase in American history.
They can now run ads of death panels.
They can now run ads of legislation that will increase premiums.
They can now Throw Grandma off the cliff and blame the Democrats.

We have been reduced to the state of government chattel.
“Compliance with ObamaCare is policed by the IRS. Last month, Obama’s proposed federal budget added $1.1 Billion to the IRS budget to hire over 5000 new IRS agents to oversee the implementation of ObamaCare.”

America is no longer a Democratic Republic. Well, George, Ben, Thomas: we tried. Made it over a little more than 200 years, but your American Experiment is over.
If the US Gov’t can now force us to buy Medical Insurance as a “tax’; is there anything they can’t force us to buy?
You WILL buy a Chevy, this year, this make/model, these options, and you will be told the price, so no need to shop around for what you really need or can afford, after all - it’s a “tax”.
And, if you are the non-working sort of person, one who has the ‘right’ not to work and feels that working is now beneath their dignity - why, they are entitled to a new car, paid for by the taxpayers.
Is there anything that the Gov’t can not force you to buy? Is it any shock that the IRS recently put an order in for firearms and additional manpower?
At this point I’m sorry to say George, Ben, and Thomas wasted a lot of time and lives. We should have stayed a colony because we just traded one crown for another.

"Hey Justice John, Nancy is really great in bed isn't she, and her pictures of you in bed with her are ready to go on You Tube if you don't vote for us!"
