Has anybody heard what Neal Boortz has to say? I’m at work, can’t listen.

Neal is ticked off, but not surprised, as he reminded us that this is the same court that brought us the Kelo decision.

“I would have rather Roberts just upheld the commerce clause argument rather than open this pandora’s box.
What Roberts did goes far beyond this law.”

You are spot on. This was worse than anything we’ve been imagining. I’m amazed that so few people here on Free Republic have woken up to that yet, and I wonder who is going to be the first conservative with a national voice to figure it out.

No, first they threaten you with fines or confiscate your property and sell it at a tax sale for whatever they can get.
If your lucky you declare bankrupsy and have seven years of bad credit”

Every American should be very afraid of the power of the IRS.
It has almost destroyed my life. Suicide has looked like an option at my low points. I do not make this statement lightly.

Be afraid of this extra power the IRS has been given today.

One problem with Boenher’s statement. He mentions only how damaging ObamaCare is economically. He does *not* make any mention of the fundamental issue: it is unconstitutional! None of those worthless congresscritters look at issues through the prism of constitutionality.
.
.
.
.
Because voters, sadly most of whom, are out getting ready for the 4th and are not even paying attention to this ruling don’t relate to grand political terms like UNCONSTITUTIONAL, however they definitely get BIG TAX INCREASE AND BAD FOR THE ECONOMY.
He’s correct in trying to make this understandable to the average slub and where it hits them the hardest; the wallet.

We FReepers have that will. Our Congress, as it continues to prove, cannot be counted on.

Have I got it wrong or weren’t the Federal taxes were 80-90% back in the 20-30’s?

Have I got it wrong that Federal Taxes are SUPPOSE to be limited to National Defense and the Common Welfare (not to be confused with “free” Obama phones )..?

Thats where the state come in. You know the “concept” of Individual sovereingty blah blah blah...

How does this prevent a freedom-loving “insurance” company from providing health insurance for $.01 a month with an extensive rider that indicates no actual healthcare (with maybe the exception of aspirin) will be provided?

The same shell game, bait and switch deception used to establish the Fed following the Jekyl Island plotting is now being used to establish the european socialist state of America.

I summarize....I think this is all an attempt to force congress to do its job. Why the Supremes felt such a thing was needed....I’m not sure why but it’s a good concept...congress doing its job.

I pretty much agree with you. And I am not so comfortable with a country that expects 9 unelected people in black robes to make our most vital decisions for us. Obamacare was passed because liberals won elections. Ideally, it should be overturned because conservatives take a stand on it and win elections themselves. The people stand a better chance of controlling the country for our own good when we are calling the shots, not 9 unelected people in black robes. And we sure as heck ought to take control of the Constitution by amending it for clarity on issues like these instead of hoping that the court just happens to have enough unelected people in black robes on it to interpret it the right way.

Okay, I’m confused here. Does this have to back to Congress to be re-written and passed as a tax, or does it stand, although redefined by the Court as a tax?

You win nothing, and you're not going to win anything. Government does what it wants, and they don't give a flip what you think or say.

You are correct. Freepers represent a small slice of society. Most people do not have the passion for Liberty that Freepers possess.

The vast majority of Americans will complain a little and in a month they will just accept it.

The vast, sadistic Federal bureaucracy will continue to grow and finds ways to torture and humiliate the citizens. Most will just accept it.

Our Founders would be surprised we have lasted this long. The evil left's domination of the MSM and our educational system for the past 80 years has paid off.

To all those who think there will be a Rev 2.0, or civil unrest by the right -- you will be sorely disappointed.

I ask, just how can anyone envision a Rev 2.0 ever happening? The iron-fist of the Federal government would squish it before it could take it's first breath.

Today, any illusion that you are a free man or a free woman has been removed.

You are all subjects of the Federal Governemnt.

There is now no limit to any behavior they wish you to perform, as they have the power to tax you and to take away your freedom if you resist.

Before, they could tax your activities. They could tax your possessions. They could tax your estate. They could tax commerce. They could tax your earnings.

But now they have a new power.

They can now FORCE you to create commerce via a tax.And to put you in jail if you refuse to pay a tax which forces you to participate in commerce dictated by the Federal government.

Let that sink in.

You will now be forced to take part in any commerce the Federal government wishes you to participate in, via fiat or “laws” that are passed. It matters not the vehicle they “present” to you. You WILL comply or else.

You are no longer a free man or woman, with unalienable rights.

You are now a subject, a peon, a serf, a slave of the Federal Government.

So are your children, and grandchildren. And those not yet born to your posterity.

And the guards of your liberty will decide if you have any liberty left at all.

What is the difference between King George III and King Obama?

It is 1776 all over again.

A time for choosing.

For 236 years, good men who loved liberty more than life, died to preserve our liberty.

And what will you and I do?

Kneel and accept our shackles?

Or obtain new guards for our God-given liberties?

Before you decide, look into the faces of your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, if you have been so blessed.

And decide if you are a free man or a slave.

May God preserve and protect the United States of America—while there still is one.

If you refuse to buy insurance and you refuse to pay the fine/tax, then the IRS can put you in jail, right? How is that not coercive? (I’m not addressing this to you specifically, just a general question). There are ways to avoid other taxes. In this case, you pay the tax or go to jail.

You haven't quite taken it to it's logical conclusion.

If you don't buy the insurance, they will "tax" you. If you don't pay the tax, they will attempt to jail you. If you resist, they will kill you, and your neighbors will just shake their heads at your extremism, if they even notice your death at all.

The ultimate threat behind all laws is the state's willingness, and in fact, eagerness to employ lethal force against you.
