Americas favorite cookie is stirring up more than milk today after Kraft Foods posted a gay pride Oreo on the cookies Facebook page.
Oreo posted the photoshopped picture of an Oreo cookie stuffed with rainbow-colored layers of frosting Monday evening with the caption Proudly support love!
Over the past 17 hours more than 157,000 people have liked the image, 40,000 people have shared it and 20,000 have commented on it.
But while many of the comments were supportive, some Facebook users pledged to boycott the cookie because of the post.
Ill never buy Oreo again, one commenter wrote.
Disgusted with oreos, wrote another. Being gay is an abmonitation in GOds eyes i wont be buying them anymore.
Basil Maglaris, a spokeswoman for Oreos parent company Kraft Foods, said in a statement that the image was part of a series of daily ads reflecting current events in a fun way using images of OREO cookies and milk. Kraft is not planning to sell the rainbow-stuffed Oreo in stores, Maglaris said, as it was created solely for the advertising campaign in honor of Pride month.
We are excited to illustrate what is making history today in a fun and playful way, she said in an email to ABC News. As a company, Kraft Foods has a proud history of celebrating diversity and inclusiveness. We feel the OREO ad is a fun reflection of our values.
Other images in the Oreo ad campaign, which celebrates the cookies 100th birthday, include a parody of the No. 1 hit song Call Me Maybe, depicting an Oreo and glass of milk next to tweaked lyrics.

I thought Oreos were a Nabisco brand? In any case I’ll boycott any gay supporting business anyway.
Way to go Kraft. I now associate your brand with anal sex.
I am done with them
Male/male or female/female sexual union can only be achieved by means of acts of risky sexual perversion. We cannot help but wonder what aspect of sexual perversion are the makers of Oreo cookies proud of?
We hope that Kraft Foods lets us know soon.
If you take away all the BS surrounding that cookie you have to admit that would be a damn tasty cookie to munch on.
I am realy fed up with these companies that risk upsetting 98% of their consumers so that they can pander to the queers.
I hope it’s worth it to them.
An ad campaign for a food product that reminds you of buggery doesn't seem like a really good idea.
Oreo is an old childhood favorite of millions. Now it, too, has fallen to the Rainbow.
I read an article that said when Kraft posted its Oreo Rainbow cookie on Facebook, out of 200,000 view it received 150,000 “Likes”. The article scoffed at the few “empty threats” of a boycott. They even said it is a sign of “more gay advertising to come”.
They do not take the dissent seriously, which shows that our side needs organization and massive action.
“Way to go Kraft. I now associate your brand with anal sex.”
Do they have any fudge products? I can see many marketing ops there.
It seems like a really stupid thing to do.
Probably some fruit working for Kraft that came up with the idea.
I’m really tired of the fawning that (in some cases) borders on gay-worship. We have gone from “tolerance” for gays to outright celebration—and increasing that applies to transgenders too. There is really nothing about the homosexual lifestyle that is healthy for either the individual or society. Its really hard to tell these daze how many people really support Gays or are just too intimidated by the PC climate to do anything but go along. I am, however, making a mental list of these Kool-aid drinking companies to avoid if at all possible.
Why ‘special rights’ instead of ‘equal rights’? All minority groups want/demand ‘special rights’, as if there’s a new, special clause in the US Constitution just for them, instead of the same thing equally-guaranteed for all of us. I’m so damned sick of this crap.
Kraft foods owns Oreo? Kraft is one of a few companies that use fetal stem cells in the research and development. Even though the human tissue isn’t used in making the product, I find this wrong.
I would hate to drop and accidentally crush a bunch of Oreos or other Nabisco products on the floor every time I visit the grocery store.
In my college basic econ course, I was taught that business should solely focus on the bottom line, not charity or bettering the world. Maybe an upside of the never ending Great Recession will be that most businesses will not longer be flush enough to engage in this type of nonsense.
Pride? They think the sodomite lifestyle is something to be proud of? WTF?
Kraft Foods has just joined General Mills on the list of companies that need to fold.
