New York voters will head to the polls on Tuesday as Democrats and Republicans compete in primaries that will determine who will be on the congressional ballot in Novembers general election.
The primaries come as the state redraws district lines after the 2010 census, which saw New York lose two House seats (the 9th and 22nd District) because its population lagged behind that of other states.
The two biggest races to watch today feature challengers to long-time House Democrat Charlie Rangel and popular Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, who filled Hillary Clintons vacated Senate seat in 2009. Tuesdays primaries will determine who will be on the ballot against these candidates in November.
Polls are open until 9 p.m.

I see Rangell will be on the ballot for Working Families even if he loses Dem party line.
The big one is whether Charlie Rangel will be back to serve a 22nd. term in the House. I bope he loses, even though his primary opponent is a lefty.
One can criticize Charles Barron, but his election will cause considerable embarrassment with his fellow Democrats, while his opponent will be a leftist party hack. With Cynthia McKinney gone, we need someone to laugh at.
Wendy Long seems to be leading other Republicans for the U.S. Senate.
I hope Barron wins this primary.
Drudge headline “Another Term?” with pic of Charlie.
I’m thinking “Yeah - IN JAIL!”
Charlie aint got nuttin to worry bout........
I thought Cynthia was coming back to Congress. Again. (or trying to?)
I didn’t know Rep Turner (who won the Weiner seat last year) is running for the Senate til I heard Rush mention it. If he loses the nomination then he is out of the House too. That’s unfortunate since I hope his seat doesn’t go back to a Dem. Seems unlikely any Republican can beat Sen Gillibrand anyway.
With the new map he was unlikely to hold the seat.
These results are like California, why not just say liberals won, sanity lost.
Rangel? Yes...”he may be a crook, but he is our crook.”
People are always saying all politicians are crooks. Not true, but some are. We could get rid of them if only these same people who complain would stop voting for the bad ones!
I think Wendy Long won with 59% of the vote.
She's worth supporting just to see the Lefties froth at the mouth. (www.WendyLong.com)

If anybody can beat Gillibrand, it would be Wendy Long. She has incredible qualifications.
So Rangel won narrowly, thanks to the anti Rangel vote being split.
And the anti-Semite Barron was crushed by the rat establishment choice.
