According to Republican Assemblymember Linda Halderman Democratic leaders in Sacramento have further cut funding for two Veterans homes.
In a scramble to save face, the Governor and Majority Party leaders removed funding for the Fresno and Redding veterans homes from the trigger cuts list. "
" Their rhetoric fails to mention that they have also drastically slashed funding for the homes to the point that neither will be able to admit a single veteran.
" From a $26.1 million promise to a $10.6 million compromise, the 2012-13 budget now allocates just $4.22 million. This allows hiring personnel but still provides no care."

Many of you know this but some don’t: These guys are the needist of the needy, folks like me don’t even qualify because we are pretty much means-tested out, so believe me, this an immoral blow to honorable men, who, when called, and most were just that, drafted against their will, went, got shot at, were ignored or belittled by many of their countrymen and are now left unloved by people not much better than crooks, IMO.
They are the neediest of the needy. I too am a vet and attend every event that honor’s these/our guys. It is a shame that they live in the conditions that they do while those who have done zip for the USA have every convenience available including their EBT cards. What a disgrace!
If McRomeny would run with this, and how dim’s in Congress won’t cut welfare for illegals...but they repeatedly cut benefits for our precious Veterans, he’d win over most of the independents and even many dims.
Why take care of those who sacrificed for this country when there are millions of illegals who need so much?
(do I need the /sarc?)
Going to be the least popular on the thread, but how about allocating ZERO dollars to it. This is a worthy cause, it should have little problem getting community support and funding, and requires ZERO theft of the people’s money at gun point to do so.
Get it out of the state’s hands, and out of the state’s funding. The people owe this obligation to these veterans, not some bureaucrat who will use them for votes or higher taxes.
