One.
Cousin Oliver is always good for a Jump The Shark moment.
When the parents don’t rebuke or refute it (in fact CELEBRATE it with their kids), it becomes common place and the slippery slope lurches lower.
Wasn’t there a clothing store selling 7-year olds thong panties with “Sexy” and “Cherry” phrases on them a few years back? I seem to recall some FR threads.
The same corporate whores pushing the gay pride celebrations are pushing the rest of the sex positive everyone do it at every age with no moral judgments or questions of age appropriateness agenda...
What do you think the F in LMFAO stands for?
I think it was Connecticut. (Though he may have been caught in more than one place) And the real story I was told (by an FBI guy) was that Morrison was caught back stage before the show with a 13 yo girl, but talked the cops out of arresting him. Later, on stage, he dissed the cops so they were NOT inclined to let him get away with anything after that.
FWIW, and I have no way of knowing if this is true outside of the fact the guy who told me this was an FBI guy and not inclined to be untruthful.
You can put the computer in a communal room and/or just not let your child have one. Ditto for cell phones, ipods, and so on.
Hard for the kids, but better than letting them get raped (physically or mentally) by seeing, talking, and/or meeting up with someone online.
“Their guitar player is sick.” I’m not all that familiar with pop culture. Are sick guitar players the current rage? What particular illnesses do sick guitarists aspire to?
The cell phone is a parent's lifeline to a young teenager. I would never let my kid out of the house without one. Besides, even if I did deprive her of a phone/computer/ipod, she would still see that stuff from her friends' devices.
Besides, I know that my daughter, who has been raised with plenty of parental love and attention, would not fall prey to some moron she met online. At this point, she is way too savvy and aware of the dangers. Watching Chris Hansen on MSNBC's "To Catch a Predator" with her, and talking with her frankly about the dangers is also part of her education about the dangers in the world.
I think it's much more dangerous to try to protect kids from the electronic culture by depriving them of these devices. Then they face the world clueless about the dangers. Better to let them see the stuff and provide connection and guidance. I wish the culture was different and more protective of innocence (more like what I grew up with in the 1950s). But unfortunately, it's not.
Connecticut was a different issue, yes his almost started a riot.
In Florida, he was accused of exposing himself onstage.
