Syria has attempted to shoot down a second Turkish aircraft searching for missing pilots, Ankara announced Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc told a news conference the Turkish plane, which was searching for the jet that was shot down last week, was not damaged in the incident.
He met with reporters following a seven hour cabinet meeting that focused on Syria's attack last week on Turkey's war plane.
The F-4 reconnaissance aircraft was allegedly shot down while still technically in international air space near the border with Syria about 13 nautical miles away, according to Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
Arinc added that Syria would not go unpunished for shooting down the aircraft, which Ankara said was on an unarmed training mission to carry out a radar system test. Both of the pilots who were aboard the aircraft are still missing.
Ankara said that Turkey would protect itself against Syria's hostile action within the framework of international law. Syria gave no warning before opening fire. .....

Israel & Turkey used to have a kind of strategic understanding (before the Islamists got control in Turkey), but I don’t think that ever extended to the level of Operations & Tactics. My two cents.
Recon F-4s are not needed of a rescue and recovery. Turkey is purposely infiltrating Syrian airspace to get a response and to coordinate military action by the Muslim Brotherhood. This is an act of war by Islamist Turkey.
This could spin out of control really fast. I don’t think the Russians want a war—Syria might use it to get a sort of internal peace. If War starts Russia may well sit in their port and defend it—all the while making a deal with the Rebels to help them when they win. A few thousand Turks, and a few warships and Syria would fall like a house of cards—a blitz on Damascus and it would be over in a few weeks if not days. With Syria out Lebanon will be weakened. This will hurt Iran. In the End Russia is in a position to gain new friends in the New Syria (a client state of Turkey)and gain new friends in Egypt. Its a chess game for the Russkies.
War, good God y’all!
The current Syrian regime appears to have a death wish.
In before a story from some lunatic claiming it was Zionists pretending to be Syrian who shot down the Turkish plane...or am I too late?
The Zionist conspirators will be blamed when and if Syria decides it doesn’t want a war with Turkey after all.
Ba’athists v. Ottomans redux.
