The Old Testament is full of stories where a nation blessed by God decide that they like new gods better and that the old God isn’t worthy of worship anymore. The New Testament talks of people falling away and being led astray before Jesus returns. What America is doing is not new and is not a surprise and I think there will be a lot less Americans in heaven than we thought there would be.
A lot of hateful atheist comments at the site.
America is in trouble, and not because God is dead or not.
If there is no God—there are no Absolute Laws—Universal Truths or Natural Rights from God. We had this ideology of Universal Truths since Plato which culminated with Christianity in American jurisprudence. Higher Law than man’s and Natural Rights from God.
Atheism creates people like Voltaire’s Atheists-—the French Revolutionaries—who did some of the grossest things in history—desecrated the dead, headless bodies and arranged them in sexual positions—Atheist humor is really Satanic and evil and full of excrement and orgies.
Lenin and Stalin and Mao’s Atheism just killed tens of millions and Hitler’s occultist/homosexual paganism killed millions. Oh goody-—such superior ideology when they kick out the Judeo/Christian God.
I would only allow Atheists to be second class citizens since they do not believe we have Natural Rights from God. As such—they are extremely dangerous and deranged because they think they can take our Natural Rights away and force unjust laws which promote Vice-—like the Godless in chief in the WH.
I’m less concerned with the unchurched who often find later in life that their churched parents weren’t so stupid after all than I’m concerned with the churched who are misled by poor doctrine “holding to a form of godliness but denying its power”. In other words, they try to mold God into something that fits their liberal beliefs instead of accepting God for who He is and adjusting one’s beliefs to what Scripture says instead of the adjusting Scripture to fit the world’s beliefs.
Kuhner’s closing paragraph says it best with Dostoyevsky’s quotation:
Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky once wrote: If God does not exist, then everything is permitted. He was right. We are abandoning God and as we do so, we are losing the very best of our American heritage. Only by re-educating the nation in the truths of Christianity can we prevent the collapse of our republic.
For the first time in history we are beginning to see a human society dominated not by reality but by the projected speaking image in movies, television, video games and other created video.
For more and more children, an increasing amount of their formative experiences are derived not from real interaction with real people and real situations around them, but rather from the projected image.
So it's not surprising to see young people who have essentially been raised by the alternative projection of reality provided by Hollywood turn away from God.
The United States, like the Israelis many times before, will be tested and taught a hard lesson.
I see many Christians who decry the decline of religion in America but is that not exactly what the Bible teaches will happen.

I was looking for this by Connie Smith and Nat Stuckey, the only version I ever heard. But it wasn’t there - so I don’t think it would be possible to come up with a better version than Vestal Goodman.
