WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is marking the 40th anniversary of the landmark anti-gender discrimination law known as Title IX, saying it's proved to be a "springboard for success."
The federal law is best known for promoting high school and college sports programs for women.

Ironic because it keeps so many male black athletes form getting scholarships...
Thank you for the post, from another ‘free thinker’.
I guess the goal is for men to... not exist?
What characterizes the Left in that war on nature, is that they never analyze anything from root premises. Always they seek to legislate what they wish was reality, rather than build any program on what actually is reality. (See, Feminist Delusion.)
Put another way--that is recognizing another aspect of what is real, rather than wished for--male athletics finance the Colleges' athletic programs. Its not that the girls who participate don't have fun, but the public interest is largely with the boys; and forty years of Title IX has not altered that.

40 years, and I can’t think of a single major baseball, football, or hockey star who was born from the program. Liberal thinking should now be that the NFL, hockey, NL, etc need regulations requiring female players.
That wasn't Title IX, but Clinton's decision to enforce it by requiring schools to spend equally for men's and women's sports, even to the point of shutting down men's programs to make them equal.
I believe they are showing a made-for-TV movie about this on Sy-Fy tonight:
Plan IX From Outer Obamaland
I’ve found women’s sports on TV to be invaluable when adjusting the color on my flat screen, all the pretty make-up, etc.
Title IX needs to be reformed. The fastest growing sport in the US, lacrosse, can’t be added as Varsity sport status because of it.. There are only 62 NCAA Division I schools in lacrosse and something like 300 club teams, which is pathetic..
Title IX destroyed a bunch of college football programs, like at my alma mater.
But hey, there’s men’s & women’s Ultimate Frisbee as a result... /s
