The November election between U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and Rep. Connie Mack in Florida is set to be a close race, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.
Sen. Bill Nelson edges Rep. Connie Mack, 43 to 39 percent, in the Sunshine State contest for Nelsons Senate seat, a new Quinnipiac poll says.
The projected November election between U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson and Mack looks like it could go down to the wire, said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Nelson has gained the slight edge since being tied with Mack in a May 24 poll. Nelson has served two terms in the Senate, replacing Rep. Macks father who retired.
Brown said Nelson gets modest reviews from voters, who give him a 47-32 percent job approval rating compared to Macks 34-22 percent favorability rating.

Is it true he was picked for the astronaut program because a life time with an empty head had prepared him for weightlessness?
Why do you say that?
I am not prepared to back Mack the Lesser in the primary either (unless maybe he opens up a 10 point lead on Nelson) though his odds of winning it appear to be very high at this point.
BTW Former Senator Peppy LePew has dropped out and no one cares.
As for this poll, Quinnipiac sucks.
Peppy endorsed Mack, of course. Mack will win all of the RINOs, almost all of the establishment folks, and a goodly portion of the conservative vote, and there are a couple of conservatives who will split the remaining conservative votes (and there’s no runoff), so Mack will probably win handily.
I was referring to the primary, of course; I’m not too bullish on Mack in the general, even with Bill Nelson being so obviously vulnerable. Hopefully Romney will carry FL by 6% or so and it will be enough to put Mack over the finish line.
He was up in the polls on Nelson for a while but Nelson was at a low ebb and I think Mack said something dumb. I have FL less likely than Ohio, not sure about whether I’d also put New Mexico ahead.
What’s up with him and Mary Bono Mack? I guess I don’t get how they can be married but represent areas on opposite coasts.
I somehow got on Nelson’s email list. Every time he sends me some of his drivel I write back and tell him how much I hope he loses the next election and why I disagree with whatever he said in his email. Of course I never hear back and he keeps sending them to me. He never represents ME.
