Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said on Wednesday hes concerned about what President Barack Obamas administration is keeping from the American people about Operation Fast and Furious.
I have tried to be very patient and judicious and responsible in my statements up to this point, and to give the administration and Eric Holder the benefit of the doubt, Rubio said in an appearance on conservative radio host Laura Ingrahams program. I think after today we now begin to wonder what many have begun to wonder What are [members of the Obama Administration] hiding?
On Wednesday Obama asserted executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents subpoenaed by House oversight committee Chairman Darrell Issa. The move followed Attorney General Eric Holders last-second request for him to do so, ahead of a scheduled committee vote to begin contempt of Congress proceedings against Holder.
There is something in there they dont want us to know, there is something in there they dont want us to see, and you begin to get concerned, said Rubio. What are they covering up now?
I think weve reached a dangerous new place with regards to this administrations contempt of Congress and I dont mean another play on words, Rubio added. I think were in very dangerous territory now. (DOC BLOCKED: Obama asserts executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents)
Rubio hasnt outright called for Holders resignation, and his spokesperson wont answer whether hell join presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, five U.S. senators and 129 House members demanding Holders ouster.
Holder has shown his contempt over the law on almost every move that jackass has made. King Obama is a communists gangster and Holder is his second in command. The MSM have sold America down the river and should be exposed that they are a communists organization and equal time should be forced at peak hours for opposing views with no interruption..
Trey Crowder of S.C. is the real bulldog on the hill!
Everyone seems to get the cart before the horse. In order for there to be "benefit of the doubt", there must first be "doubt". In my mind, there is no longer any doubt for which benefit can be given.
To quote Brad Garrett of ABC News this morning on DFW station WBAP: "Probably nothing."
According to Brad it was all just a low-level BATF affair that went sadly awry, no involvement by Holder or Obama, just a lot of political grandstanding by the Republicans. Nothing will come of it...
This is government run media on display, folks.
I’m wondering whether any drug cartel representatives have given any campaign contributions, or other money disguised as such.
Rubio is the perfect point man to keep F&F in the Hispanic spotlight.
Apparently he's not being vetted for VP, he's come out in favor of the DREAM ACT (demonstrating his supposed solidarity with Hispanic interests) and he's articulate, charismatic and popular.
Obama apparently arranged for Mexicans to be murdered for his own political gain, but still has the nerve to expect their votes.
Rubio should keep this issue front and center, while Mitt continues to talk about the economy.
Operation Fast & Furious had as its central purpose the subversion of the US Constitution. The program's stategy was to gin up a furor over guns sourced in the US being used in Mexican crime so that the US public could be stampeded into restricting the 2nd Amendment. Since few such guns were being used in Mexico more had to be supplied. They also had to show up at crime scenes so that they could be traced back to the US to 'prove' the Obama administration's assertions.
The GOP should be harping on one message every time F&F is mentioned. F&F was a program designed to result in Mexican deaths - so that 'evil' US-sourced guns could be found at the crime scenes and US gun laws could be blamed for the carnage. Holder, Napolitano, Hillary and Obama and a host of their minions cooked this program up knowing that Mexicans would die - in fact, needing Mexicans to die for this scheme to work. The Obama administration was cynically willing to slaughter Hispanics to accomplish their political purposes. The only "botch" in the scheme was F&F guns turning up to get Americans killed too.
ABC New’s line yesterday was ‘Obama evoked EP, but all presidents have evoked EP, its no big deal’.
That’s Trey Gowdy ... and, yes, he IS attacking aggessively.
This is Watergate all over.
He’s “concerned”. How about “outraged”, “piS$ed off”, “angry as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore”?
Enough with the PC talk, talk as if you were a man with a set.
Good to see Rubio speaking out on this. Further vetting for the Romney camp. See if he has mettle.
I just think that if the goal was to set the American people up to accept more restrictive gun laws, that there are so many more effective ways they could have gone about it than allowing guns to get into the hands of Mexican drug gangs. Mexicans are dead, scores of them and I don't think that particularly bothers anyone this side of the border. Yes, two Americans are dead, but that wasn't supposed to happen.
What do Mexican drug lords have that the worst within the Obama administration might want to trade the guns for? How about money? How about as much or more money than Obama's largest corporate donors?
Our President has spent all but four hours a day fund raising for the past three months. I think they would accept a "donation" from anyone. Could the drug cartels have carried out some other mission for Obama/Holder? Why is Calderon not screaming for someone's head? Mexican police have been killed by these guns. Why wasn't this an international incident months ago?
Guatemala? I don't have much more than a hunch that the Zelaya ouster and subsequent demand by the Obama administration to reinstate him, that perhaps it ties somehow to indirectly arming Zelaya's proponents in Guatemala through Mexico. Just a hunch. The Guatemala incident was a big black eye for the Obama adminstration and these people are vindictive in the extreme.
There are two unrelated Don Winslow novels that make for excellent reading and may go a long way, by means of fictionalized narrative, towards explaining what may really be happening with regards the Mexican and Columbian drug cartels:
1) Power of the Dog - if i remember correctly, the premise of this book is that the U.S. Federal government is looking the other way and actually supporting one drug cartel in competition with another.
2) Savages - This novel focuses on the lives of three individuals, two men and a woman, from their teen years on, who get involved in the drug trade, starting out with marijuana. It has now been made into an Oliver Stone motion picture, which may actually become a blockbuster. Information I have from a Google search indicates it will be out July 6 - only a few weeks away. It has an all-star cast, including TAYLOR KITSCH, BLAKE LIVELY, AARON JOHNSON, JOHN TRAVOLTA, BENICIO Del TORO, and SALMA HAYEK. It may be worth seeing just because of Salma Hayak!
Both of the books are unrelated action novels, and excellent reads. Savages is also a love story. Winslow has now writtern a prequel to Savages that was just released last week, The Kings of Cool, and I just bought it on Kindle for $11.99, but haven't yet read it.
I tried to change it to Gowdy before I posted, but it didn’t change. Yes, I knew it was/is Gowdy. I was thinking of going to the local hardware store...Crowder Bros. Thanks for the correction, anyway.
What is the saying...don’t ask questions unless you already know the answer?
I think ISSA has the smoking gun and is playing this out to the bitter end. I have a feeling he was expecting the EP.
Interesting post, way. Food for thought.
