The Republicans shamelessly turned what should be a routine matter into a pointless constitutional confrontation. And the White House responded as most administrations do at some point: it invoked executive privilege to make a political problem go away.

There was no reason the House committee and the Justice Department could not work out a deal to produce the documents requested, or some form of them. Instead, they show again that every issue, large or small, can be turned into ammunition for political combat.

Agreed! What is the justification for the ATF that the FBI and State laws can't handle?
My argument here is that I do not care who started it. I want to punish those who transformed it into the mass murder plan it turned out as.

In the Navy it doesn’t matter who steered the ship before you came on watch. If it ran aground on your watch it is your ass.

But then, what does the Navy do with the ship?
They either fix it or scrap it!!!! They don't just get a new Captain and send her back to sea damaged goods.
That is MY argument.
