“No such law authorizing the President to increase the debt ceiling exists.”

Silly Conservative....
Insignificant things like LAWS no longer apply to DC Democrats.
Just ask anyone at CNN/CBS/ABC/MSNBC/NPR/NBC/Pacifica/WashPost/NYTimes/TheView about this!!

You must be a RASSISS!, or a phobe, or sumpin.

Wait a minute before criticizing Nancy!

The next president can cut government's budget by 50% with an executive order if this precedent stands.

I would love to raise my credit card limit every time it gets close maxing out but I can't do that, I stop charging and pay it down. Now if I was able to just blatantly raise my limit when I wanted I would be in debt up to my ears.

This is the example that these rats are setting for this generation, that it is ok to spend your way out of problems only to get stuck with a mountain of debt that can never be paid down in your lifetime. They do not care because they will be dead and gone when it gets to the tipping point.

Or you could always just blame Bush for your troubles.

Sec 4 Clause 2:

“But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.”

And These people, who had to take an Oath to defend the Constitution, not their own agenda, Don’t Qualify as an “insurrection or rebellion against the United States”?

Dem Logic

OHHHHH, NOW I SEE IT!!!!

Here’s how they plan to default on their Debt.

“but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void”

First they enslave us through Bankruptcy, and then write off the Debt/Devalue the Currency because it qualified as an insurrection or rebellion.

I find myself repeating this a lot today.

Before it gets better it has to get worse. People need to feel the pain of their inaction. And yes...that might take a full blown dictator to return them to a desire to live under constitutional government. So be it.

ot happy thinking like that, but the facts on the ground seep to show it.

Why not? The democrats know they can get away with it. We didn’t think they would stop at Libya or gay marriage or the new Amnesty EO, did we?

Their policy is clear now. Numerical majority or no, they will attack--attack--attack, until there is nothing left to attack, and they are absolute masters of a one-party soviet state.

Pelosi is a typical democrat.

Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are Republicans.

What a difference huh? And liberals prefer Pelosi proving democrats are insane.

I don't see that being valid at all.
In fact, it is invalid, ispo facto.

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned.

Okay, but this is not existing public debt.
This is an attempt to increase the public debt.
Section 4 makes no mention of increasing debt, only that prior debt shall be unquestioned

see my comment at #64

Sec 4 Clause 2:

“But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.”

Since the United States is the Constitution, NOT a faction of any certain MEN, writing off the debt, devaluing the currency to cover species manipulation, which is Exactly what we’re doing at the moment, we just haven’t made it Banana Republic Official like they do in South America, Would qualify as an act of Insurrection and Rebellion against the US/Constitution BY the President through an Illegal Executive Order.

Therefore, the Debt of the US “shall be held illegal and void.”

Like I said, Dem Logic. The only interest they have in the Constitution is using it to destroy it.

Sec 5, Authorized by Law. Again, since the Executive order would not be authorizable by law, it Would be an act of Rebellion and again the debt shall be held illegal and void.

Every time we assume that these people wouldn’t try something that sneaky and underhanded, we find out later that they’d already had it planned down to the last detail for years.

I agree totally, I have always said that they may remove the mandate and pass it on to the states to institute as a tax, or some other devious method.

If they intended to overturn it, why did they let this administration spend 100's of billions of our tax dollars to begin the implementation of this travesty. (Boehner refused to defund it as well) They could have reached down and picked this up anytime they wanted.

Evil is alive and well, God help us all.

Give the Democrats credit where credit is due. They found a way to hold future Congresses to the actions of a present Congress -- which is supposed to be not possible.

Having passed Obamacare, they recognized they were going to lose the House in 2010 -- and, with that, control of the pursestrings.

So, puzzlingly, they failed to pass a FY 2010 budget. And, subsequently, the Democrat Senate has failed to pass a FY 2011 and 2012 budget. Nor will they pass a FY 2013 budget. All of this is intentional.

Consequently, FY 2009 spending (importantly, including Porkulus) has been locked in place since October, 2010 -- with a generous (and automatic) annual escalator, thanks to the wonders of Jimmy Carter's baseline budgeting.

As the time of its passage, the Democrat House and Senate were careful to not only appropriate but authorize funds for the implementation of Obamacare -- through its full-scale implementation in 2014. The House is unable to simnply "defund" this implementation...unless the Democrat Senate agrees.

Which they won't.

The only control that the GOP House has on spending is the debt limit -- which controls overall spending, but does not prioritize it. And, of course, they have entered every negotiation with the codicil that they will not shut down the government to achieve their aims.

Under these circumstances, they can cut some spending by some amount -- but never in an area that the Democrats are not agreeable to.

Net:net, there is no practical way to defund Obamacare until a new administration takes office -- affording a Senate that will approve a repeal bill and a President that will sign one.

I know it's fun to hate the wimpy Republicans. But you should at least hate them for the right reasons...

“She’s evolved on totalitarianism it seems...”

Maybe she’s been waiting to come out of the totalitarian closet when conditions were ripe for totalitarians to be totalitarians with impunity. (Looks like that’s happening now.)

IMHO

No thanks to the GOP that we are here again. If they haven’t caved when they had the upper hand before, then we wouldn’t be in this mess.

I getting to the point where I really think nothing we do matters when idiots like Boehner and McConnell keep stabbing us in the back.

At this juncture I almost wish we keep O and then let the country finally go to hell so bad even IDIOTS will “get it” and wake up.

Sadly, I think we’ve come to far for that.

I seem to remember a few times in the past when members of both house of Congress would stand together against a President who attempted to intrude on their turf.

That was YESTERYEAR. All we elect these days is politically correct "NUTLESS" wonders.
